Overview

The Round is the most versatile fin in the quad range, designed to offer a perfect balance between speed, control, and maneuverability. Its neutral template helps maintain a simple and intuitive reading of the board’s behavior, making it an excellent option for a wide range of surfers and conditions. It stands out with a slightly fuller area through the tip, which promotes lift through turns and improves hold when the board is engaged on rail. This design preserves the excellent glide typical of quad setups, while adding enough grip to surf confidently in more critical sections.

The Round does not favor extreme pivot or overly directional lines, but instead offers an effective balance between these two extremes. It works equally well on shortboards, modern fish shapes, or hybrid boards, and adapts easily to a variety of conditions.

It is an ideal fin setup for everyday use, capable of performing in all situations without requiring constant adjustments.

Template

Neutral and versatile template. The rake is moderate, offering a good balance between pivot and projection. It allows fluid linking turns without locking the board into overly long lines.

Base

The base tapers fairly quickly, which frees up the board and makes transitions easier. It still retains enough width to maintain drive.

Depth

What size?

Fin sizing mainly depends on the following factors:

rider weight
surfing style
board volume
surf conditions

A heavier or more powerful surfer will need larger fins to maintain enough surface in the water for grip and control.

A lighter surfer can use smaller fins to reduce drag and make the board more manoeuvrable.

Surfing style also plays an important role. A surfer who prioritizes quick turns and short transitions may choose slightly smaller fins for more reactivity. A surfer who pushes hard through turns or surfs powerful waves will benefit from larger fins for more stability and drive.

In general:

Larger = more grip and control
Smaller = more speed and manoeuvrability

The more volume a board has, the more fin area is needed to control it.

Finally, conditions also influence the choice. In small or soft waves, slightly smaller fins help generate more speed.
