Choose better, make it last.

For Sustainability Week, let’s put the lifespan of our gear back at the heart of our habits. Making gear last starts at the time of purchase, by choosing equipment designed to stand the test of time. It then continues with appropriate use, regular maintenance and, whenever possible, repairing rather than replacing.

For our boots and gloves, we notably use limestone neoprene. Using limestone instead of petroleum in the manufacturing of this material helps reduce dependence on petroleum-based raw materials while maintaining the technical qualities we need: flexibility, durability and insulation.

Unfortunately, this choice of material does not make the product impact-free. Like other types of neoprene, it remains a synthetic material that is not readily biodegradable and is difficult to recycle. Choosing a more considered material is therefore a first step, but actually extending the lifespan of the product remains essential.

Rinsing your gear after every session, allowing it to dry properly and storing it away from intense heat and direct sunlight will help preserve its performance over time. And whenever damage can be repaired, this should be the preferred option to delay replacement.
