Our ultra high aspect surf wings for maximum glide.

Introduction

The Veloce H is the ultimate wing for surfing with fast glide! It is the magic wing for foilers looking for maximum speed and glide in surfing. When we talk about speed, we are obviously talking about top speed but also about the average speed over the spot. The high ratio of this wing will really allow you to access higher speed ranges that will change the way you surf and perceive the spot.

We fly longer in freefly, we exploit faster swells, and we connect bumps with an incredible glide. A must have for downwinds! The pumping is mind blowing: you feel the wing flying as if nothing held you back. You need the technical level to launch this fast wing, but if you have the skills, then it’s the ultimate rush! In wing foiling your sailing points will change. Going upwind is spectacular: you are on your line and it goes up strongly. And this glide then allows you to bear off super hard while maintaining a very high speed when approaching full tail wind. Mobility on the water is increased tenfold. And the pleasure of doing long tacks too. The high ratio Veloce goes fast and therefore carries more than a lower ratio of equal surface. We therefore tend to use smaller surfaces.

  • In small sizes, it is an ultra lively front wing that retains tolerance and offers incredible grip.
  • In large sizes it is a front wing which optimizes glide and performance. The large wingspan will limit the rail to rail but the glide will be incredible.

The Veloce Front Wings in sizes XS-H, S-H, M-H, L-H, XL-H, XXL-H are aimed at the most demanding and the most technical riders.

Understand each wing in detail

Small wings are suitable for high speeds and large ones for lower speeds. The criteria of choice is therefore not only the size of the foiler. The XS-H has a wingspan of 70 cm, 500 cm², 0.9 cm thick for a volume of 0.24L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a very small wing for the pros, the lightweights and tow-in. It’s super fast and the lift is very smooth to stay in control in hollow sections.
  • In wing foiling, it’s very small but perfect for a very good light rider who wants to go full speed, carve and freefly on a nice swell in solid conditions.
  • In kite foiling, it is a small wing for a good level rider. It goes very fast.

The S-H has a wingspan of 75 cm, 600 cm², 1.0 cm thick for a volume of 0.29L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a small wing for the pros, the lightweights and tow-in. It’s super fast and the lift is very smooth to stay in control in hollow sections.
  • In wing foiling, it’s very small but perfect for a very good light rider who wants to go full speed, carve and freefly on a nice swell.
  • In kite foiling, it is a small wing for a good level rider. It goes very fast.

The M-H has a wingspan of 85 cm, 750 cm2, 1.1 cm thick for a volume of 0.4L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a small front wing for the pros, the lightweights and towing. It’s super fast and the lift is very smooth to stay in control in hollow sections.
  • In wing foiling, it is small but perfect for a light foiler or someone of very good level who wants to go fast, carve and do freefly on a nice swell.
  • In kite foiling, it is a good front wing for a large number of riders who want to go fast in the light conditions and on a flat body of water.

The L-H has a wingspan of 95 cm, 950 cm2, 1.2 cm thick for a volume of 0.55L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a medium-sized wing for surfing long waves and being able to return to the peak at Mach 12 without running out of steam!
  • In wing foiling, it is perfect for a good level rider who wants to go fast and do freefly. The point of sailing upwind is crazy.
  • In kite foiling: to forget, it’s too big.

The XL-H has a wingspan of 105 cm, 1150 cm2, 1.3 cm thick for a volume of 0.75L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a large front wing which is suitable for average sized surfers to surf small waves and be able to return to the peak without running out of steam!
  • In wing foiling it starts to be wide. Only for beautiful light conditions on a flat body of water or on slightly soft bumps.
  • In kite foiling: to forget, it’s too big.

The XXL-H has a wingspan of 115 cm, 1400 cm2, 1.4 cm thick for a volume of 0.98L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a giant front wing which is suitable for ultra-technical strongmen in dock/beach starts, and which is dedicated to easy pumping. You can do 120kg and cross great distances by pumping at high speed. It is a wing limited in surfing by its wingspan which can overtake you in curves and interfere with rail to rail, and which must therefore be reserved for very soft waves. Shape
Ratio

The shape of the Veloce H is dedicated to speed in surfing and pumping, and offers an incredible feeling of glide. We find in this shape the DNA of the Veloce T with its “fast” character pushed even further. The slenderness of this wing gives it a lot of finesse by reducing the chord and the thickness of the profile. As a result, performance is improved since you end up with a profile that drags much less water, without losing lift due to the wingspan of the wing.

The very slender outline of this wing gives it a lot of finesse by reducing the chord and the thickness of the profile. Performance is greatly improved since much less drag is generated, without losing lift at a constant surface. We even gain a little since the profile will fly faster overall, speed being the source of lift.

The type of profile

The profile keeps lots of lift up to the tips. The turns are all in amplitude and glide, which is phenomenal on these shapes.

The Veloce have a fairly full intrado to boost their speed. This intrado with a very slight hollow in the rear third allows incredible glide and reduces lift at high speed. We are in control at high speed because it lifts less and it does not tend to dive. The leading edge is more “edgy” than on the other wings of the range to access a higher top speed. The feeling of acceleration is crazy.

Profile thickness

The profile is buoyant in the center of the wing to concentrate the lift and to be able to fly at low speed without stalling. The tips are thinner and relieve the piloting from one rail to another: we retain an amazing maneuverability for this type of wing.

Camber

The wing has a slight double camber with an almost constant downward curve which returns close to the horizontal near the tips.
The grip is clear and very easy to feel, especially when you want to recover from a stall. The profile is further from the surface, especially in curves but with a moderate camber so as not to generate steering aberrations.

Max width

The placement of this lift point is constant throughout the range so as to always keep the same setting for the same behavior when changing wing size.

Construction

The highest ratios in our range contain a large number of high modulus carbon layers. This carbon is 4 to 6 times more expensive than top of the range Prepreg.

It provides the essential mechanical rigidity to the proper functioning of these very thin and large foils. Many brands choose to have thicker profiles so as not to use high modulus carbon. Not making this choice allowed us to become world slalom champions with this front wing.

Its high modulus carbon construction is super rigid and responsive. It maintains a formidable dynamic despite the lower thicknesses. This technology is the very best in high pressure, high temperature molded carbon construction

TORAY M40J high modulus carbon offers incredible stiffness. It is a high-end carbon that delivers high mechanical properties while remaining resistant. A carbon popular in aeronautics as well as for high-end sports equipment. Its mechanical characteristics such as its superior tensile strength and Young’s modulus translate to exceptional performance in navigation. The other layers of these front wings are made of 3K and 12K Prepreg carbon, with a total of over 15 fiber layers on the profile, and many more in the fitting areas.

High stress points such as fittings and connections are reinforced with Kevlar to resist tearing and fiberglass for tolerance. It is essential to place specific fibers according to the different types of stress in addition to the carbon which will produce dynamism.

On the high aspect wings, we have added a central stringer made of full prepreg carbon, which runs from one tip to the other. This acts as a solid beam to boost rigidity, namely by the extreme dynamic connection it provides between the intrado and the extrado.

Molded at high pressure and high temperature on a foam core, our wings are almost indestructible.

It is the perfect balance between low weight and infinite durability/repairability.

Wing tips are a potential source of danger. We take care not to produce an intrinsically dangerous design, within the limits of efficient hydrodynamics. We invite you to be extremely careful though because these parts remain sharp and dangerous by nature. Stay away, wear the proper protections, and never sharpen them. Systematically repair the slightest hitch in the outline because it represents a danger for you and others if it were to cut your leash for example. In all situations, the greatest caution is required. If in doubt, abstain (waves, strong wind, etc.). The foil is by nature a dangerous object in the same way as a knife or a chainsaw for example. Never sail alone and without any protection. Do not approach others. And be careful even on land when handling your foil.

Front Wing Carbon HM Technology

High Module Carbon offers unparalleled rigidity, representing the pinnacle of performance in our most advanced wings and masts, which face the most demanding structural constraints.

By combining High Module with Intermediate Module, we offer the best performance at the best price.

The products have no flex, the fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest possible weight.

Each layer of carbon is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the carbon. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the carbon layers, ensuring a strong and durable structure.

Durability and repairability are at the heart of our development philosophy. Our foils are tested and proven by dozens of team riders, hundreds of employees, and thousands of customers worldwide. Even in case of damage, our products can be repaired multiple times, ensuring exceptional longevity.

Buying guide

For whom?

It is a front wing for good level riders who want the maximum speed in surfing.

  • In surf foiling, you must have a very good level to tame this technical front wing. Surprisingly simple to take off, but which requires good technical skills to maintain a clean pumping at high speed and to pilot it in the curves with its high ratio wingspan.
  • In wing foiling, you must have a good level to take off early on this technical front wing and master the higher speed of the foil. The tips can come out of the water to get some fresh air, so you need a good level because it’s only an asset if you can master it, otherwise it’s a disaster ? In small sizes it’s a mind-blowing front wing in the waves and even in freestyle, which offers a very high top speed and great heading upwind.
  • In kite foiling, ditto, you must have a good level to master the higher speed of the foil and the greater wingspan of these stretched wings.

In summary, you need good technical skills to take advantage of this front wing. The small sizes are obviously easier to manage than the very large ones which will be harder to move around.

For what?

These wings are clearly made to go faster and glide longer.

With a profile dedicated to higher speeds, it is the fastest surfing high ratio in the range. Which doesn’t mean less manageable, quite the contrary: it is formidable with its crazy pop, its high quality grip and its handling in small sizes.

  • In surf foiling, it is clearly the ultimate wing to return to peak in lightning speed and effortlessly with a front wing that remains manageable.
  • In wing foiling, it is a wing which offers a fast drive and which likes crazy curves. A pro will love it in surfing and DW. And in small sizes there is no better for sending high jumps
  • In kite foiling, it is the assured turbo without sacrificing surfing and tricks.

What size ?

The lift is considerable because these wings fly quickly and without restraint. The lift being linked to the speed ? Remember that you will surely like the size below for the same program.

The size below is also a wingspan below. Much easier to manage in rail to rail or when taking extreme angles as we like them.

Here is a view of the ideal body size for each foil and each use:

The XS-H has a wingspan of 70 cm, 500 cm2, 0.9 cm thick for a volume of 0.24L.

  • In surf foiling: for the very lightweights only and tow-in on beautiful waves.
  • In wing foiling: less than 55kg or very good level rider and/or in strong wind.
  • In kite foiling: it’s very very fast in flat conditions.

The S-H has a wingspan of 75 cm, 600 cm2, 1.0 cm thick for a volume of 0.29L.

  • In surf foiling: for lightweights and pros only and tow-in on beautiful waves.
  • In wing foiling: less than 60kg or very good level rider and/or in strong wind.
  • In kite foiling: it’s wide but fast in flat conditions.

The M-H has a wingspan of 85 cm, 750 cm2, 1.1 cm thick for a volume of 0.40L.

  • In surf foiling: less than 65kg in normal waves and less than 85kg in bigger waves.
  • In wing foiling: less than 65kg or very good level and/or strong wind.
  • In kite foiling: it’s very wide…

The L-H has a wingspan of 95cm wide, 950cm2, 1.2cm thick for a volume of 0.55L.

  • In surf foiling: less than 75kg in normal waves and more than 85kg in bigger waves.
  • In wing foiling: less than 75kg or good level and steady wind.
  • In kite foiling: forget.

The XL-H has a wingspan of 105cm, 1150cm2, 1.3cm thick for a volume of 0.75L.

  • In surf foiling: from 80 to 110kg in normal waves.
  • In wing foiling: less than 95kg or good level and steady wind.
  • In kite foiling: forget.

The XXL-H has a wingspan of 115 cm, 1400 cm2, 1.4 cm thick for a volume of 0.98L.

  • In surf foiling: pumping and very soft waves for all sizes.
  • In wing foiling: 95kg and more for light and irregular wind.
  • In kite foiling: forget.

A bigger wing will be used in low ranges, soft conditions. And conversely a smaller wing in tough conditions. What you need to remember is that the choice of your wing depends on your size, which requires lift, and your average speed, which generates lift.

In pumping from dock start or beach start, we recommend the wings as follows:

  • The M-H , the L-H : forget. There’s no point.
  • The XL-H : less than 85kg.
  • The XXL-H : above 85kg.

In DW, we tend to think that the biggest is the most efficient. That’s only true to some extent, but it is often the case.

Understand our foil range

Quiver partners ?

The Veloce H Front Wing is ideal with technical boards in a noble construction such as the FSP PRO boards. The smaller the board, the more you can exploit the potential of this front wing.

The stab must also be technical: thin and fast.

The mast must be rigid. And all the more so if your stance isn’t perfect.

Positioning of the foil ?

For the GONG foils, place the top plate at the rear third of the US rails for surf, SUP and kite. Place it in the middle of the US rails when using it with a wing foil.

The more you move it forward, the more it makes the board pitch up. The further you move it backwards, the more the nose of the board dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend to forget to use the back foot, especially when we have a kite foil background. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

Warning

The practice of the foil carries risks of major accidents. A bad mastery of the foil can cause cuts, serious wounds, even death, for you and/or others.

The foil must be practiced taking all the precautions when used in kite because they are increased in comparison to those related to the foil surf. Remember that the foil is long, sharp, and can reach high speeds. To be hit by a foil, or to strike a third party can have dramatic consequences.

Foil always far from others, in safe and unobstructed water.

The foil is mainly used in the light wind. This one can fall and force you to go swimming. Therefore, do not overestimate your strengths: never go further than what you can swim under present and announced conditions.

Wear a helmet and protective jacket to ensure your buoyancy. Always wear a full neoprene wetsuit.

When handling the foil, be careful not to cut yourself on the trailing edges.

GONG declines all responsibility in the event of an accident involving a GONG foil. The foil practice and its benefits/consequences is under the sole responsibility of the foil user.
