The Elips is our high-performance wave kite for committed surfing , strapless tricks and enjoying a lively and light kite in kitefoil.
This surf kite paradoxically draws its DNA from our big air developments: we have taken the best of what is in terms of tension, surface centering, arc opening, rotation on the wingtip and profile stability, but in a 100% wave program.
The Elips 2026 gains significantly in natural glide: a more open arc, a higher aspect ratio, a shorter chord, and a more centered surface area. The result: a kite that flies cleanly in very light winds, easily generates pull in low wind conditions, and positions itself exactly where you want it in the wind window.
Particularly stable, torquey, and compact, it has impressive rotational potential. It's perfectly controllable, allowing you to have the ideal amount of power at the precise moment of your surfing move.
When you shock it, it drifts cleanly : the wing lands in the air, slides downwind while maintaining its stability, while you link maneuvers without having to constantly look at it.
Powerful, it allows you to ride smaller, more responsive surfaces . Very maneuverable and predictable, the Elips is the benchmark kite for top-level surfers like Airton, Malo, Serena, and Clémence, but also for anyone who wants a modern, precise, forgiving, and incredibly enjoyable wave kite.
We've extracted the best features of a wave kite and a loop kite to design the Elips: the ultimate wave kite. Capable of being completely unobtrusive, as well as pushing a turn to the extreme , it's always in the right place at the right time to shred.
Developed and validated by the Team, it is the kite that was vice world champion in the waves.
Design 3 lattes : excellent compromis poids / stabilité pour d’excellentes performances en surf, en restant simple et sain à piloter. Les 3 lattes donnent une très bonne réactivité tout en conservant une tenue de profil exemplaire en plage haute.
Hybrid C shape : design moderne, stable, prédictible et dynamique. Coefficient de projection porté à 65,5 % (vs 63 % en 2025), avec un arc plus ouvert pour gagner en glisse, en cap et en surface utile à la portance.
Ratio modéré ++ car désormais à 5,0 (vs 4,5) : plus de glisse, plus de finesse, plus de vitesse quand on le souhaite, tout en gardant un feeling très sain et linéaire dans toute la fenêtre. Avec sa surface recentrée, la Elips reste hyper stable au zénith, conserve un super drift et rattrape beaucoup d’erreurs. On gagne un kite qui s’extrait vite de la zone de puissance si on le souhaite et qui y retourne immédiatement à la demande. Une vraie mobilité dans la fenêtre de vol qui favorise le surf.
Profil 100% performance : légèrement reculé pour une très bonne Vmax du kite et une stabilité renforcée en plage haute. Creux important en proportion de la corde du profil pour un fond de puissance solide, mais creux fin en valeur absolue grâce à la corde réduite : on garde de la légèreté et de la finesse. Relativement creux (par rapport à sa corde étroite, donc fin en valeur absolue) pour un lift dingue et permettre une super ressource dans les loops.
Bord d’attaque diamètre médium pour une aile rapide et fine dans l’air qui permet de se concentrer sur le surf sans lutter contre le kite. Mais une aile qui ne plie pas en cas de crash pour un redécollage en urgence.
Arc plus ouvert pour une glisse naturelle bien posée dans le flux d’air, des transitions plus fluides et un déplacement plus efficace dans la fenêtre, avec un drift très sain quand on choque et qu’on laisse le kite descendre sous le vent pendant les manœuvres.
Outline waveriding avec un bord d’attaque très courbe pour un redécollage rapide dans les vagues. L’aile peut rouler sur l’eau pour se remettre en position de décollage en tirant doucement un arrière.
Surface recentrée : kite compact à surface centrée qui génère un appui net et efficace, avec beaucoup de power disponible pour sous-toiler. On peut ainsi choisir une taille plus petite, plus vive, ce qui est parfait en surf, sans perdre en remonté au vent par exemple.
Lattes segmentées : plus rigide au niveau de la connexion avec le bord d’attaque : comportement très net, plus de puissance à surface égale, plus de stabilité en plage haute. On a vraiment une super tenue du profil en plage haute pour un kite 3 lattes. Redécollage plus efficace.
Tips carrées, plus ouvertes et de surface modérée : elles libèrent le kite en rotation et donnent une maniabilité énorme. Le vrillage de la Elips ferme la tip interne à la courbe et ouvre l’opposée franchement pour tourner encore plus vite sur l’oreille. On peut faire tourner le kite sur place ou le faire sortir de la fenêtre selon l’action sur la barre, ce qui est idéal en surf et en strapless freestyle.
Vrillage interne des tips négatif mais avec un twist très efficace grâce à la forte tension appliquée à tout le kite : la résultante est un kite qui vrille très fortement au pilotage, avec une réponse immédiate en barre. L’aile est plus rapide pour sortir de la zone de puissance quand on ouvre, plus ON/OFF.
Tension de spi très forte sur chaque section pour un pilotage très réactif (direct feeling, pas de latence). La Elips répond instantanément aux actions, ce qui permet de la placer exactement où on le souhaite dans la vague.
Retour en barre facilitant : on sait toujours où se place l’aile grâce à une pression de barre constante et dosée. C’est un kite qu’on sent bien et qui permet de penser surf plutôt que pilotage dans la fenêtre.
Depower très efficace : on est full power bordé, avec un gros dégazage full choqué. L’aile passe en mode “on/off” quand on le souhaite : choquée, elle drift et reste en place sans traction parasite, ce qui est essentiel dans les turns appuyés, les sections rapides, les tubes.
Shape “autostable” avec son ratio intermédiaire, sa surface centrée et son creux important qui accroche l’air. Les tips légèrement reculées répartissent la masse vers l’arrière pour éviter les piqués / décrochages. On a en mains un kite prévisible et très sain pour un maximum de liberté.
Bridage court des avants pour éviter qu’il ne s'emmêle dans les tips et rendre le kite plus réactif ; frappé sur 6 points, sans poulie pour un feeling hyper direct et sans concession. L’absence de poulie évite aussi les soucis en cas de crash dans les vagues.
Queen of waves for committed surfers, the Elips will appeal to all those who love strong turns, fast sections and strapless surfing, while remaining accessible for an already autonomous kitesurfer who wants to progress seriously in waves.
The Elips is a kite that turns quickly and drifts very well.
With a rotation radius that can be closed at will, unparalleled stability, huge depower and real glide, it excels in surfing.
Quite powerful, it's a kite that's mostly ridden in the low end to promote maneuverability and drifting, but it remains very stable in the high end.
With the Elips, you typically choose the smallest effective size, hop on your surfboard, and enjoy a compact, lively, and precise kite.
It will also be very pleasant for strapless freestyle and kite foiling if you like to ride with an ultra-maneuverable kite.
The Elips has a very stable and easy-to-control high end. But it's a kite that's best ridden in the low end, relying on its torque. Indeed, its low-end power and maneuverability work wonders in the lower end of the wind range.
Choose your kite by following our recommendations below. Wind ranges always depend on your weight, skill level, and the board under your feet!
The length of your bar will directly impact the overall feel of your kite. Remember that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. This is especially important when using larger kites, particularly in very light winds, to maintain good responsiveness. The increased leverage compensates for this natural loss of responsiveness.
Keep in mind that, conversely, the smaller the kite, the faster it will turn! Therefore, using a smaller bar allows you to balance the kite's behavior and make it more responsive. You must take these parameters into account when choosing your bar size and adapt your riding style to your preferred feel and the conditions you encounter.
The key size is the 52cm bar. This is the most versatile bar and the one to choose if you only want one bar for a 7-9-12, 8-11, or 8-10-13 quiver.
When you have an extensive kite quiver, it's essential to also have a quiver of bars to maintain a balanced feel when switching from a small kite to a larger one. Also note that having two bars reduces wear and tear on the parts by half!

Recommendations above are based on the behavior of GONG kites. Since our bars are compatible with a wide range of kites, you can adapt your choice according to the type of kite you use.
Your FeelX bar comes standard with 80cm pre-lines, 19m of lines and 3m extensions already mounted.
The original setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions.
By playing with its lengths, or even modifying them using our extensions (sold separately), you further boost its versatility!
The "standard" bar length allows for a more progressive and predictable feel (recommended setting for progressing kiters). Your wind window will be larger, thus providing more power at takeoff. This is the preferred setting for low and mid-range conditions, and for everyday freeride use.
Shorter lines offer a more direct kite response, increasing its responsiveness. The wind window will be shorter. This is the perfect setup for advanced kiters, ideal for wave riding or foiling, for added agility.
If you choose to sail with short lines, you will also gain comfort in high range.
Note that 22m and 19m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine adjustment to your piloting feel.
All our kites are obviously compatible with our FeelX bar, but also with 95% of bars on the market. If you're unsure, get a complete set (x4) of pigtails .
