Wing for beginner
Wing for beginner
hello guys,
Long time I've been looking for an alternative to SUP surfing on windier days (advanced sup surfer). first there was normal surfing but on windier days conditions here getting ruff and dirty on the direct coastline. The Wing sounds like a good and self-learnable choice due to its low material cost and ease of access. I would like to start only with the SUP (mob sp 7’2 95l) and upgrade on a Foil when I made the first experiences.
to my questions: is it possible to go upwind or is it only possible with foil? Should I order directly a foil SUP with Wing and avoid the first step? My weight is 63kg without neo so would you order an 7 or 5qm Wing?
In my region there are unfortunately no surfers who have tried it so far. Thanks for your help and have fun on the water

Hello,
the easiest way to learn wingfoiling is to start with a foil under the board.
During the first steps, you will not enjoy the lift of the foil. But the mast will be a fantastic daggerboard to avoid the drift. By this way, you can go upwind easily if you are experienced on windsurf boards, and after few uses if you never tried to go upwind.
Another point: the foil will also provide a lot of balance.
And the foil will give you the final feeling. You will create all your skills on the same board, it is way much better.
SUP with a wing is funny. But it is not the final goal. We need more powerful wings to make it efficient like windsurfing.
A pack Zuma + a 5m wing would be the best choice.
Thanks,

Hi,
I am currently putting my order together. I chose the Zuma 6'0 with 5sqm wing. Have a question about the GONG SURFOIL ALLVATOR RISE ALU. What size should I order for my 66kg (including Neo)? According to website M or L, according to forum rather larger. And could possibly I change the mast directly to 65 or 80cm when ordering the package (was also recommended in the forum). I would appreciate your help.
Greeting
Sascha
