Need little more noseriding help!
Re: Need little more noseriding help!
thank you all , this topic makes me work my English and now I 'm going to work my noseriding
Re: Need little more noseriding help!
Okay, here's my latest attempts. For the first five waves, I make the same mistakes I always make -- too far out on the shoulder, paddle too high, angle of board too down. But then on the 6th and final attempt of the day, a few things come together very very briefly and allow a success that I saw with my own two eyes. Sure, none of it was pretty nor graceful, but what you see is what I call progress, however minutely.
What I think I did right on that one ride was have the board positioned high on the wave and pretty far back in the white water, which kept it locked in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0glUJikvK8 .
now my only hope is that i can replicate and duplicate that one tiny success and get better from there. any further tips and/or suggestions would be most welcome.
thanks!

Re: Need little more noseriding help!
Congratulations!
Falling off and consecutive nosedives are part of the sport!
What I notice on your last wave is that you seem to wait before you go down the line. That makes the wave break behind you and the board gets locked in the foam. If you are too far ahead you can put some brake down with your paddle, or step back to put the nose up and then move forward again.
And always keep those feet moving, don't get stucked.

but yes waiting to turn seems key. or stalling more. right now, it's not so much about the walking as it is the positioning which i gots to work on more
thanks for the comment.

Just an update on my progress from the other day. It might not be evident from this video, but Colas' advice about steering from the nose like an airplane wing has been incredibly helpful, as was the diagram Bear once made for me. It runs through my mind all the time.

Erik, nice! nice positioning, high enough on the wall for the perfect trim.
