ghost4man a écrit :I would wholeheartedly agree on the speed statements.
First wave I got with the quobbas was a paltry 2 footer, if that, but gee compared to what I was used to the board really took off on me.
Not only that it held on the wave as opposed to the looseness of the quad set up I had been using which I felt at times was always on the verge of sliding out on me.

These fins do generate a lot of speed.

https://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kit ... itesurfing
Quobba Fins for Kitesurfing
Disclosure - I drink beer and kite with the owners son RY.
So I surf and also kite on these fins and as most people know me I will ride what I like and not what I don't. I have been riding and testing these fins for over a year.

The Tech- the fins have a small foil wrapped around the base which is designed to create some lift and drive. They are made of glass and hi tensile polymer. As the the Quobba saying is 'The faster you go, the faster you' this rings true on these fins.

Benefits I found for kiting Extra percentage drive upwind - when tacking I found the fins help with a slight drive and extra angle going upwind. I would say it might improve upwind distance by about 10-15%. (Yes I have tested this for the peanuts on here)

When travelling fast and carving the fins like to turn corners and have a nice hold through turns where other flatter fins let go which definitely is an advantage because we go faster on a kite than normal surfing. Theres an extra drive that squirts through the end of your turns.

Negatives They catch seaweed a bit more than a normal fin

They come in Medium and Large sizes (I am 95KG and ride the larges. I would say if you are 80KG or less go the mediums. Also they come in FCS, Futures and multi box.
Airton and James Carew number 1 & 2 in the world both ride Quobbas purely by choice which sais allot for the fins.
I would suggest demo a set from Action Sports as I know they are stocking loan fins just to see if you feel the difference and also if they suit your riding before dropping in. Hopefully that was a helpful review see you on the water.

you think the quobba's working as lateral in a Freak 2+1 set? In that case I should use it with my Fatal and Freak too

They will certainly work, although they may not get your the same speed boost as a full Quobba set.

You may want to also get a FCS / USBox adapter, so you can experiment with a full Quobba set on the Freak.

They can arrange a lot of things if you email them. For instance, people with a central US box, but Future sides were able to have Quobba send them side futrures + a FCS central to use with the adapter (there is no cheap Future/US Box adapter available)

IcSurf wrote on seabeeze: (I don't known if he will write here, copying it just in case):
A big thank you to anyone on this thread that took the time out to review Quobba fins. Reading the reviews I purchased a set. I dropped a set of mediums in for my stock 2+1 setup on my 9' perf longboard. I am genuinely gobsmacked how good they are. I have made sections I wouldn't have made before, the added speed is very significant, the board is more playful, loose and I feel like a better surfer. I was sceptical before but I couldn't be happier and I feel its given my surfing a bit of a turbo button.

BTW, the customer service was brilliant. I won't bore you with the story but Quobba sorted out a posting issue quick as with no quibbles.
Genuine people me thinks!!!
