Handle on a flint

Hi, I want to install a handle downside of the board. My local shaper told me that if the board is not reinforced could put in compromise the board structure. Any advice would be appreciated. I don t know if the board is reinforced near the rail box.
Thanks

You can see the construction under the "Techno" tab on its web page.

The hull is made with a 3mm PVC sandwich, so no issue there, it is as strong as the deck.

The shaper will need of course to encase the handle in some waterproof foam (e.g PVC) both for support and as a safety to avoid water entry if cracks appear later.

Hello,

you can do it if you do it seriously.

1/ Use a nice handle, one that is covered by fiber layers at the end.
2/ Do the hole for the handle at the right place, 10cm forward OS box or a little less.
3/ Do a nice scarf on the bottom lamination to let minimum 3 strong layers of carbon fiber over the handle by the end.
4/ Glue the handle with slow resin and fiberglass.
5/ Sand a little to make it clean.
6/ Put 3 to 5 layers of carbon over the handle and on all the large scarf you did (10cm around the handle). Press it with weight of you can.
7/ Sand it and do the finish.

If you land super hard and you bend the board a lot, some cracks can appear. I never saw it, but it can happen. You just have to repair. Easy.

Thanks,
