Our Direct Sales Distribution Model has proven its efficiency on every level. We now wish to extend it to brands that are ‘friends’ of GONG to offer you an ever-increasing choice of products.

Ullman Sails was founded in 1967 in California by David Ullman.  Since then Ullman Sail established itself with a rich and diverse legacy with more than 50 years’ experience in custom sail making in more than 75 locations world-wide. Ullman Kitesurfing and Wing-surfing does all R&D and manufacturing in its own manufacturing facility in Cape Town, South Africa.  The sometimes harsh Atlantic Ocean provides a perfect testing ground to put our experience and know-how to the test, delivering the perfect product to you.

The key focus with the Osprey is to have a Wing that is easy to handle to excel in downwinds and waves riding.

The Osprey has a stiff frame providing a stable platform. As a result the power delivery is excellent when pumping with the Wing. The rapid lift and acceleration lifts you up onto the foil sooner. This has been achieved by finely tuning the leading edge diameter specifically for each size.

The medium aspect ratio and rounded wingtips keep the wing out of the water and in the air, while giving a light flying sensation.

The multiple handles offer intuitive hand placement on any tack. The positioning of the handles was carefully studied to pinpoint the perfect position. The handles themselves are built out of a UHMWPE cover with soft internal cushioning. The Handles are carefully placed and sized for easy transitions.

Harness loops have been incorporated on the handles for those wishing to use a harness. A handle on the leading edge offers easy handling if the wing becomes inverted, or for holding the wing in a wind neutral position.

The Dihedral angle has been further refined to give a better airflow and canopy tension. This results in a much tighter canopy profile.

The development team has spent a large amount of time on the geometry of the leading edge and the canopy. The result is a combination of tension and variable angles across the leading edge allowing  to construct a stable profile in all wind conditions.

The V-shape is relatively reduced in the first two segments to give better tension which then gets smoothed out to the sides, making the wing agile and stable. This stability comes to the forefront when flagging the wing and is a crucial control factor.

The leading edge diameter is adjusted per segment and per size to a specific diameter. The Osprey enjoys a new split strut construction. The seam is placed on the apex of the leading edge fairing out towards the tips. The inside of the seam is reinforced a UHMWPE  yarn. This increases the durability and supports the geometry of the wing.

The Osprey also enjoys a specific leading-edge construction which takes the specific textile expansion and stresses of a wing into consideration. This reduces the chance of a leading-edge blow out as the seams are supported with enough material not to damage the textile. We recommend that you inflate all our wings to 8 PSI.  This pressure reduces the negative flex of the wing which reduces the panel to collapse. The direct result is a crisp and fast power delivery when pumping and maintaining control when overpowered.

Large Windows provide an optimal view of your surroundings. The Windows are cut into the profile and improve the safety while on the water.

Struts and Handles

The handle is really the cockpit from where your input directly affects the wing flight.

The brief was to make this as comfortable and user friendly as possible. To keep you in flight-mode as long and as comfortable as possible by reducing hand and arm fatigue over time. There is a lot of energy transfer happening here so the aim was to cushion your hands and wrists.

The development team worked through countless samples to come up with the right-hand placements, the right grip texture, the right density and the ideal width and stiffness while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. The obtained cushion effect achieves this, making the Osprey the most comfortable wing currently on the market whilst offering a smoother ride.

The intuitive hand placements make those transitions easier while the cushion effect keeps you on the water for longer due to less hand and arm fatigue. The mini Y handle controls the yaw when picking the wing up form the water. The Y is also key for beginners riding in downwind because when holding the Y handle you get a little more active input into the wing. This is particularly helpful in tough conditions or for newbies.

  • Medium Dihedral Angle with a higher angle in the centre of the wing. Providing more geometric support and better power delivery.
  • Medium aspect ratio, making it a good allrounder and entry-level wing.
  • The Centre strut has a negative angle. This Negative angle on the backhand gives a more active control and greatly benefits switch riding.
  • The Wingtips are positions to reduce water strike.

Buying guide

For Whom?

Designed for entry-level and around riding the Osprey is the prefect all-round wing.

Starting you off in the sport and providing a good platform for progression.

The Large sizes deliver a considerable amount of power in light wind and the smaller sizes are designed to provide confidence in harsh conditions.

For What?

The Osprey excels in downwind riding and loves flat water jumping. The Profile is developed to be stable enough for a flight path during transitions.

What Sizes?

Most people start with a 4,7 or a 5,2 these wings are in the middle of the wind range. Meaning that you will be able to ride it in light wind and get to know how a wing preforms in strong winds.

The wings will be delivered with a leash.

With or Without Harness?

We have provided the hanging points for harnesses lines. We found that people who love to cruise long stretches love harnesses. If you are into maneuvering and lots of agile maneuvers then you might think a harness is a little cumbersome. Having said this there is no wrong and right, there is a what you enjoy.

The dates of availability of all our products are written on each product page, in the size and colour of the product concerned.

These dates are valid at the moment you consult the site and/or place an order. It is possible that this product may be ordered a few seconds after your consultation. It then becomes unavailable. If you have placed an order, this change does not concern you: the product you order is still available on the date indicated at the time of your order.

We sell several thousand products per week. The stocks are therefore very evolutionary. But our management always shows you the real availability live.

If it’s available online: it’s available 😉

Some articles are proposed in pre-order during their routing to our premises. You can buy this article which will arrive at our place in a few weeks. This method avoids the fair to grab upon receipt of the lot and the disappointed ones who would not order within the hour.

Upon receipt, we will ship it to you as a regular order.

The times indicated on the pre-orders are 95% reliable. First of all, because we only pre-sell finished products that are arriving to us after Customs, and therefore shipped right after. And also, because we add decent margins with concern to the dates announced by the shipping companies or railways.

However, a Worker Strike, a breakdown, an overbooking, can unfortunately happen. In the case of a delay, you will be notified by email (check your spam). It is generally less than a week and totally independent of our good will.

As soon as we receive the container in La Baule, we ship your order within three working days. Then the carrier takes over: delivery time and tracking numbers are under their responsibility.

It is possible that the date displayed on the online for the pre-order of the item you have ordered and paid for may change for two reasons:

  1. All quantities of the batch are sold (most common reason). In this case, orders placed for the first container will be delivered as scheduled.
  2. The container is late and we have to shift the date by a few days. (Strikes, breakdowns, overbooking, can unfortunately happen). You will be notified by email.

We never change the delivery dates of a container without notifying customers.

The dates that we announce are shipping deadlines, which GONG has in stock and available here physically.

We usually give a shipping time within 3 days, but in most cases, we ship within 24/48 hours. Normally morning orders leave in the afternoon for example.

Then the transport service takes over. The variables are then important between the customer being delivered to France (very fast) or Bulgaria (a good week) or to a forwarding agent or to Asia or the USA… You understand that each location has its own type of delay.

We work with serious and well-known carriers. They do their utmost to make you happy even if a snafu can happen. In any case, we are there to make things easier and to arrange our customers.

Shipping Fees:

Contrary to others, we do not hide shipping costs in the price of our products. At GONG everyone knows exactly what he pays. The transport is charged at its strictest value, and the person who comes to pick up his products does not pay hidden transport fees.

Shipping costs are calculated according to the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address. To this is added a labour time of order preparation.

The invoicing of the shipping costs is identical in continental France and in the bordering European countries. A surcharge is automatically invoiced for deliveries to the most distant European countries and all European islands.

For a shipment in French overseas departments and territories or outside Europe, our logistics department will contact you before the payment stage to give you an estimate of the shipping costs. You will be able to accept this estimate and pay your order, or refuse it and cancel your order.

Any questions:

We answer you within 24 hours by email. But 95% of your questions are answered on the site. Try to use our contact form which will guide you to all these answers.

Don’t forget to read the Forum, where thousands of users exchange information and experiences.

In any case, don’t panic. If you don’t get an answer during the weekend, it’s normal: the team is resting 😉

We are passionate and professional in our job. Our only goal is to make you happy, as much as possible 😉

Tracking of your parcels :

The tracking of deliveries is directly ensured by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your parcels. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose the delivery methods and to follow the route of your package.

If you ask us for this tracking, we will have to do as you do: we will go see on the carrier’s app because they are the ones who manage and are responsible for this job.

We collaborate with the best transport providers to deliver you everywhere in Europe and in the world in very short delays.

We have chosen them for their quality of service and their respect of deadlines. 80% of your orders reach their destination in less than 48 hours of processing in metropolitan and continental France.

For Europe, the delays vary from 3 to 6 days depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delays can be up to 15 days.

Please note that the transport time is added to the preparation/shipping time. Two companies work on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one controls its activity and commits itself to optimize its delays so that you are delivered as soon as possible, in good condition and at a reasonable price.

You can choose to return your products if:

  • You are not satisfied (14 days right of retraction).
  • You want to change an item.
  • You have refused your package.

For each situation, contact us by our contact form to help you.

More info

You must read the detailed user manual completely before using your Wing for the first time.

Be sure to have a full understanding of it. Wings can be dangerous depending on their size and the strength of the wind. You have to check the wind range of your wing so that it corresponds with conditions and your actual skill level.

For the first few sessions, never use your new Wing in its high wind range. Use your Wing in a secure environment. Take the necessary time to learn how to handle the equipment under optimum safety conditions. Never underestimate the traction power of your Wing. Even a beginner’s Wing can develop a pulling force of several hundred kilos depending on its size and the strength of the wind. Do not overestimate your abilities. Misuse can cause serious injury or death to the practitioner or others. Do not use your Wing at sea in offshore winds. Use your Wing equipped with a leash. Be careful to avoid any collision. Be extremely careful if you sail with your Wing and a board equipped with a foil. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for damage or damage caused by improper use of the Wing or carelessness of the user.
