The combination of wave riding and freeriding in an accessible shape.

Presentation

With its very short shape and comfortable outline, the Mint offers amazing versatility.

It could be placed halfway between a Flint that rocks in the light wind and a Lemon that kills in wave riding. But the Mint is much more than that: it’s the meeting of performance and ease. Everything is easy on the Mint.

It truly is the board that you will love riding strapless thanks to its early take-off, smooth ride , and the liveliness that comes from the full carbon construction.

In 2023, we added some length while at the same time reducing the width to get an even better glide while keeping the amazing stability of the 2022 version. Going from a 2022 to a 2023 Mint is truly mind-boggling, it is so easy and stable that it feels like a board with much more volume than it actually has. You loved the previous Mint boards, be prepared to love this one even more.

This combination of reactivity and ease of use is ideal for during maneuvers. The Mint will be much more radical than a Flint, but without being as extreme as a Kube or a Lemon. Moves don’t need to be perfectly executed for a smooth landing. The Mint absorbs many of your mistakes.

In waves, it’s the board which will do everything chill, but with a lot of dynamism if you require it. This small board offers no inertia in surf: you are directly in contact with the foil and the wave. Amazing.

When jumping, it is a small reactive board which offers a very comfortable landing surface. You can really nailevery landing without fear of falling. A board that gives you confidence without being bulky, it certainly is the best compromise.

You don’t need to be a world champion to shine on the Mint: you’ll be able to do it all !

GONG | Wing Foil Board Mint FSP Pro 2023
Shape
Nose

Its round nose makes it the perfect compromise between a board that has a lot of lift and a radical board. You get just the right amount of comfort to feel at ease. The round nose reduces inertia and wind resistance. The Mint is therefore very lively. And needless to say that a board of less than 6′ is necessarily very reactive!!!

Its higher length/width ratio allows you to take off immediately. Coupled with the double concave under the nose which guides the board, it is a light wing machine. And with a slightly narrower main beam, the glides with than before, improving take-off more.

Tail

The secret resides in its tail: it releases water without restraint. Directly inspired by the Lethal’s magic tail, the Mint takes off 2 knots earlier. It is a considerable difference as you will no longer require such a big wing or wear yourself out pumping. The board is also stabler and pops harder.

Its very full tail coupled with the reduction of its beam boosts take-off. The facets on the rails allow you to fly serenely without fear of braking hard at the slightest touchdown on chop or in tight curves.

Its very hydrodynamic kick tail allows it to embark “hidden volume”. Indeed, the tail is thick but with its magical glide it’s only positive. Unlike beveled tails, our Magic Tail promotes flow. The board glides much better before the flight. We don’t have this depression at the tail that sucks the board back. Remember that beveled tails were created to lift SUP foil boards. And keep in mind that the flight occurs before the wing board’s planing speed. A cut tail is not the most relevant choice for wing boards in regards to the take off. With our magic tail, we therefore gain in stability, on take off, on repop, and in approximate landings.

Outline

Its longer and narrower outline boosts its pre-flight speed on water. Once up in the air, it responds to the slightest input of the rider with instant rail-to-rail, without ever feeling heavy.

But more importantly, the slender profile gives it the unique ability to lean even more into the turns without touching the surface.

Hull

The lengthy double concave on the hull, that goes from the box all the way to the nose of the board, softens touchdowns by releasing the energy and guides the board for easier take-offs. The Mint is gentle, easy and rigid.

Rails

The facets on the rails allow you to fly without fearing a crushing blow at the slightest touchdown on a chop or in tight curves. Even smaller, they do their job with an 85 cm mast. The top rails are full to keep a flat deck closer to the outline and maximize lateral stability.

The edge to edge is wider than in 2022 by nearly 2 cm. Paradoxically, the narrower 2023 boards have more hull width than the 2022 which had a wider outline. With the facets being more vertical on the rails, we gain in performance and sharpness in the piloting. This shape makes it easier to get planing. Take-off is further improved.

The double concave under the nose coupled with the bulb and the narrow outline make the touchdowns totally harmless. Instead of braking, the Lemon will bounce off the water and immediately recover the flight. It’s really amazing when landing jumps or in the air when surfing. This absence of sanction pushes you to try tricks and will make you progress.

Buying guide

For Whom?

You must have a sufficient skill level:

  • Either you have a background in windsurfing, it helps a lot to handle the wing.
  • Or you know how to control a foil well.
  • Or you already have a significant number of flight hours with a wing.

With bigger volumes it is easy, but if you take a volume adapted to your weight, kneeling in the chop will not be as easy as on a longer board. So, you also need to be in good physical shape to be reactive.

This is clearly the board for anyone who wants to go for the maximum potential of wing foiling.

For What?

The Mint will perfectly cover the light wind, freeride, freestyle and wave riding programs in great comfort and smoothness.

We love it when riding strapless thanks to its slightly longer shape compared to other pro boards which makes it more forgiving for a smooooooth ride.

All the useful material of the board is between your feet and above the foil. It is hyper reactive and playful. It’s a great feeling to have everything right at your fingertips. The control at high speed and in the curves is fantastic.

Great and easy to surf, same for tricks, and awesome in jumps, it’s also a board that loves to go fast.

What Size?

The Mint is a high performance board in wing. But by playing on the volumes, we can adapt it to our needs:

Comfort

You can select a volume large enough to float, which is your weight +10 = volume

  • Example: I weigh 70kg + 10 = 80L to float. This means that with 80L I’ll be all good as long as I have a good wing level.

Sport

You can also sub-liter because the Lemon is large enough to be stable. If you have a great level and want maximum responsiveness, you can switch to negative volumes.

Up to your weight -10 = volume you can go on your knees while leaning on your wing in the water.

  • Example: I weigh 75kg = 75L to slightly sub-liter. This means that with 75L my board will sink lightly and I will have to be precise and sporty at each start.

Sinker

At your weight – 30 = volume, you will have to start by sinking the board: it’s technical, very physical, and you lose part of the low wind range. And above all: you need depth, which can be annoying. The performance gain is debatable depending on your level, but the gain in sensations and responsiveness is interesting for some. It is also the best way to have light equipment, which is essential for the pros and especially for the biggest riders.

  • Example: I weigh 75kg – 30 = 45L to use my board as a Sinker. Which means that with 65L and less, my board will completely sink and I will have to start with the help of the wing to get out of the water. In this case, less volume often makes things easier because we sink the board with ease. This makes it easier to place our feet on the deck or in the straps and climb on it. A small board won’t pop out as a cork, therefore easier to on it but not as quick to take off. Its stability qualities when on the surface remain the same underwater.

Finally, the most unstable volume is often the one between 10L and 20L less than your weight.

How to choose the size of the board bag for my Wing Foil Board Mint FSP Pro?

Understanding the GONG range?

The concept of each board of the range can be summed up very simply:

  • HIPE First: the perfect inflatable board to learn wing foiling!
  • HIPE Free Fly: the best of strapless on an inflatable foil board.
  • HIPE Perf: the inflatable foil board with 95% of the performance of a rigid board, in an easy and scalable shape.
  • HIPE Cruzader Strapless: the strapless inflatable board with 95% of the performance of a rigid  board with an ultra specialized shape, ideal for light wind winging and chilled out SUP foiling.
  • HIPE Cruzader strapped : the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of a rigid  board with an ultra specialized shape, for the highest performance in light wind winging.
  • HIPE Pro: the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of a rigid one with a shape dedicated to advanced foilers who want fluidity and maximum responsiveness!
  • Mob 2taste: three sports in one board: SUP, SUP foiling and wing foiling.
  • Zuma: the easy rigid board for SUP foiling and wing foiling, and with good performance.
  • Lance: the compact Zuma, with great lateral stability, ideal for beginnings in wing foiling.
  • Cruzader: fantastic in SUP downwinders, pumping on the flat, but also in light wind conditions in wing foiling.
  • Flint: high performance in SUP foiling, great in wing foiling because it is simple and efficient in light wind.
  • Kube: pure freestyle board. Minimum length for maximum rotation.
  • Mint: compact without being too technical thanks to a perfect length and its round nose. Great performance in strapless too.
  • Lemon: maximum reactivity and liveliness, while maintaining stability.
  • Lethal: Absolute radicality among volume boards

Some will go for even more extreme with low volume boards like:

Which quiver?

The Mint is self-sufficient in wing foiling. There is no need to supplement it with another board.

If you are greedy, a possible addition in wing foiling is to have another board for the strong wind. In this case, you can have a Mint in your size, for comfort. And another board two volumes below. For example, a Mint in your size and a Lethal two sizes smaller. This is the wave riding quiver by excellence.

The Mint is made for a very advanced wing practice, and will match perfectly with a kite foil to perform under 10 knots. A wing foil is not at its best under 10 knots. A Catch with a 13m2 Strutless and a set of smaller foil wings and go: the ultimate quiver for almost nothing to strong winds.

And when there is really nothing, your quiver will suffer from the absence of asurf board or two. Whether classic or SUP surfing, you’ll need to continue your adventures in windless waves.

And don’t forgetsurf foiling. It’s the magic combo with wing foiling. When one doesn’t work, the other is great. Because even on super flat days you can practice dock starts. You’ll be in crazy physical shape! The front wings are the same, you would just need a shorter mast.

For the pros:

The Curve H, Fluid H, Veloce H, Ypra or Ypra S ranges are very high performance and fast wings: remember that the H versions offer an insane glide for each of their specific use. The Ypra wings for instance are simply the wings of our pro team on the World Tour.

In the Curve H range: wings with a crazy glide that love to draw pretty lines, with a smooth and eaaaaasy glide:

  • S for those under 75kg or heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 85kg or heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.

  • M for those under 85kg or heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in light conditions and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.
  • XXL for everyone in very light wind and the heavier riders in winds below 12 knots.

In the Veloce H range: fast wings with a crazy glide that love curves, and still are easy at low speed:

  • S for those under 75kg or heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 85kg or heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in light conditions and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.
  • XXL for everyone in very light wind and the heavier riders in winds below 12 knots.

In the Ypra range: the racing wings par excellence intended to sail upwind and downwind, typically on a square or triangle racing course:

  • XS for those under 55kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • S for those under 65kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 75kg or the heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and the heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in the light and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.

In the Ypra S range for Slalom : racing wings with maximum curves / jibes, also great for Freestyle:

  • XS for those under 55kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • S for those under 65kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 75kg or the heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and the heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in the light and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.

In the Sirus range: wings with the ultimate aspect ratio for marginal conditions:

  • L for those under 75kg in winds under 12 knots.
  • XL for those under 85kg in winds under 8/10 knots or the heavier riders in winds under 15 knots.
  • XXL for those under 95kg in winds under 6/8 knots or the bigger riders in winds less than 12 knots.
  • 3XL for everyone in the very light wind and the bigger riders in winds under 10 knots.

At this level, everyone can adapt their equipment to their needs. Just remember that the wingspan is a point to take into consideration when riding high aspect ratios. The glide is fabulous, but be careful not to sacrifice maneuverability and rail-to-rail precision by using large sizes if you are looking for a very reactive drive. This is why even the pros do not necessarily ride in high aspect ratios!

The size of the front wing and in particular its surface and its volume condition the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go but the more uncomfortable you will be at low speeds. The bigger the wing, the earlier you will fly but you’ll be penalized in handling and top speed.

 Which Stab?

The stabs have a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but to the detriment of the maximum speed of the foil and its maneuverability if they are too large. The role of the stabilizer is to stabilize the foil but also to compensate for the natural tendency of the front wing to dive. So you must have a good balance of surfaces between your stab and your front wing. A 38 cm stab with an XXL wing will give a catastrophic result at high speed: the foil will dive at high speed because the stab will no longer be able to lift enough to counteract the nosediving torque of the front wing.

Remember that the stab must be proportional to the front wing. This is why we have named them S M L XL like the front wings so that you can pair them easily. Creating an imbalance brings no benefit except the illusion of better glide.

Thus the X-Over stabs are slower than the Fluid or Veloce stabs, but are much more lifty, and therefore effective at low speed or with a large front wing (for beginners for example). The Curve stab is at the border of these two worlds and the Freestyle stab is 100% dedicated to radical moves.

In the X-Overrange: super easy and effective stabs from low speeds to progress smoothly:

  • L 44 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 48 for those over 75kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.

In the Curve range: very simple stabs that love beautiful curves, with a stable and smooth glide:

  • S 36 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 39 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds over 20 knots.
  • L 43 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 46 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds of less than 20 knots.

In the Fluid H range: stabs with a crazy glide for a radical drive but easy and relatively fast:

  • S 38 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 42 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 18 knots.
  • L 45 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL 47 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.
  • XXL 49 for everyone in very light winds and bigger people in winds below 12 knots.

In the Veloce H range: the fast stabs dedicated to high speeds which are off your mind when riding:

  • S 36 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 40 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 20 knots.
  • L 44 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 47 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.

In theFreestyle range: stabs totally dedicated to tricks with a psycho pop and tight curves:

  • S 39 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 41 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds over 20 knots.
  • L 44 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 46 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds of less than 20 knots.

Which foil mast?

In other words, everything will be played out between 85cm and 100cm. You can find all our advice on choosing between these two lengths by clicking here.

In summary, for waves and freestyle, but also for beginners and progressing, an 85 mast is ideal. Simple to put in the water, an easy rail to rail, it’s perfect. A 90 cm mast and above is great for Racing by offering more margin at high speed, namely in choppy conditions, but isn’t as maneuverable. All our masts : here.

Positioning of the foil?

For GONG foils, place the plate in the rear third when you start and in the center of the US rails when you progress. The Pros can position the foil even further towards the front for more lift and maneuverability.

The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

Which leash?

Take a 6′ of 7mm minimum diameter.

Check its condition before each session and change it every year. It is your lifejacket and the life insurance of the people in front of you.

Strap or Strapless?

Riding strapless is sexy because it makes you feel free. But quite honestly, it’s not the best for performance…

So, it’s up to you to see if sensation prevails over performance. On a Lethal, we’re clearly going to miss 90% of its potential without the straps.

With straps, you’ll have much more control and much less risk of getting the Foil flipping under your feet. In the waves, it’s obvious, you gain a lot with straps. You can recuperate from crazy situations just by pulling up on your feet.

Put your straps in a central position (3rd hole) for the front, and the same goes for the back strap if you always ride with the back strap (it can be used as a marker stop).

How to place and adjust your straps?

Equipments

The set of footstraps is offered with the board. For 2023 we have reviewed the outline of our straps to further improve comfort. Developed for wing foiling, these straps with less cover do not bend when put on.

More rigid, they offer a more precise steering but are still as comfortable. There is less surface area on the feet so there is less risk of staying stuck in the straps or banging your foot on the edge of the strap when rushing into it. It also allows better leeward control (tip of the foot) and therefore a more natural attitude in wing foiling.
We have worked on every detail to improve your experience on the water.

The V-shaped footstraps perfectly center the foot on the front of the board. The position is thus more natural and allows direct and precise control in maneuvers.

For 2023, our SCS system launched on the HIPE is integrated on all our foil boards. It’s beautiful, efficient and above all it saves time you can spend on the water. With its 4 entries, the GONG double entry box facilitates the assembly and adjustment of the foil. Performance without the hassle. We leave the nuts and the screws on the plate, just insert the foil, screw and off we go! Setting up the foil is much faster and easier. It is the plug and play solution which facilitates adjustments! (inserts not supplied with the board).

handle developed by our R&D and our ergonomics engineer has been integrated into our boards this year. We can better close our hands in it: firmer and more comfortable grip. The depressurization screw is directly integrated into the handle.

It is placed on the hull to allow one-handed carrying. You can have the wing in the other hand to get past the whitewater or to get out of the water. And as we always do things seriously, the handle is placed in a block of hydrophobic PVC foam and covered with fiber.

The top-of-the-range 5mm thick integral pad provides maximum grip and comfort when sailing, while protecting the board from shocks. This year we have changed the grooving to provide even more comfort and more grip. This hard brush pad sublimates the board. This flat pad provides absolute comfort and a magical grip with more precision. This is obvious on long sessions: the feet are less tired.

Included equipments:

  • 2 US GONG Box Double Entry for standard foil plates equipped with 4 screw + nuts (9cm center distance). Compatible with our SCS system. This new system allows ultra-fast assembly of GONG foils.(inserts not supplied with the board).
  • 5 x 5-hole footstrap inserts to optimize your position.
  • 1 x large light double V-shaped front footstrap and 1 x large light rear footstrap (screws included).
  • 5 mm hard brush pad: deck covering designed for great comfort and absolute grip.
  • GONG carrying handle integrated in the center of the board on the hull.
  • Leash plug to never lose your board.

The delivery time, i.e. delivery time of the package to your home, then depends on the delivery location and the carrier.

We work with reliable and efficient carriers. 99% of shipments go perfectly and quickly. In the case of the remaining 1%, rest assured that we will do what is necessary with the carrier.

Shipping fees

Unlike other sites, shipping costs are not hidden behind the price of our products. You know exactly what shipping costs you, and you are not disadvantaged if you choose to collect your order at our GONG Space Center.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address.

Tracking your package

Delivery tracking is managed directly by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your packages. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose delivery methods and follow the route of your package.

Carriers

We work with the best transport societies to deliver to you throughout Europe and the world within very short deadlines. We chose them for their quality of service and their compliance with deadlines.

For mainland France, 80% of your orders arrive at their destination in less than 48 hours of processing.

For Europe, delivery times vary from 3 to 6 working days, depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delivery times depend on transit time and customs clearance time. This delay depends on customs and can last from a few days to a few weeks depending on the destination and seasonality.

Please note, transport time is added to preparation/shipping time. Two companies collaborate on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one masters its activity and is committed to optimizing its deadlines so that you are delivered as quickly as possible and at a reasonable price.

Eco-responsible packaging

Preserving the environment is an absolute priority. This is why we do everything possible to reduce our ecological footprint.

The most important thing is to sell quality, durable products that will be repairable and will please you for a long time.

For our shipments, we use:

  • Scotch craft paper.

  • Final packaging in high-end cardboard.

  • For rigid boards: Flexi-Hex, very high resistance ecological packaging.

This means:

  • Reusable and recyclable packaging.

  • An almost total reduction in single-use plastic.

  • Maximum protection and impact resistance for rigid boards thanks to the innovative Flexi-Hex honeycomb design (35mm thick).

Receipt of your product

Upon delivery, check the condition of your package in the presence of the carrier. A complete explanation email on the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

Despite our requirements and all the care we take in the packaging and protection of your product, transport hazards may occur, and your product may suffer more or less significant transport damage.

Note that the products are protected in their carton. If you have any doubts, simply refuse delivery and contact us.

Know everything about the GONG WING FOIL BOARD MINT FSP PRO

Warning

When you practice foil you expose yourself to possible serious risks. A poor mastering of a foil can expose you to cuts and/or serious bodily harm, even death for yourself and possibly others around you.

Foiling should be practiced, in all circumstances, by taking precautions and taking into consideration all that is involved and associated with surf/SUP sports. Remember that a foil is long and has an edge that could cause slicing and is capable of reaching very high speeds. Getting hit by a foil, or hitting another, can have dramatic and highly unwanted consequences.

Always foil far from others, and in waters that are secure and without obstacle.

Always wear a helmet andprotective vest that assures floatability. Always wear a full body neoprene wetsuit.

When handling and manipulating a foil be careful not to cut yourself along its edges.

GONG does not accept and declines any and all responsibility in case of accident that implicates a GONG foil. The practicing of this sport and the use of our equipment makes the user fully responsable for his/her actions while being a foil user.
