Description

Program

100% high performance surf foiling board with concentrated volume over a minimum length.

Introduction

The Matata Surf Foils are a reference in the world of surf foiling for their length / volume ratio coupled with their performance.

Built in FSP Pro, this full carbon PVC sandwich board is the most dynamic and solid of our Matata. The Matata FSP Pro Surf Foiling board have been developed exclusively for surf foiling with a full carbon PVC sandwich construction of the highest quality. The hydrophobic high density PVC foam shell is both a protection against violent shocks and an incredible gain in rigidity. The difference in nervousness is crazy during the pumping phases and in radical maneuvers where you absolutely do not feel the board bend or twist.

Inspired by the Matata Surf, our shape dedicated to soft waves, the Matata Surf Foiling board maximizes mediocre conditions. In these sessions, what matters is not having a large board to drop from a distance, as you often take off with whitewater; but it’s about pumping as efficiently as possible to connect as many waves as possible and add up the moves per take off.

With its tiny size ranging from 3’11 to 4’11, the Matata has no inertia in front of your foot. It’s really a micro board with volume. You pump in direct connection with the foil, almost as if the board does not exist.

Its particularly complex hull optimizes the flow before the flight to boost this very compact shape and give it the glide of a large board. Its volume with sophisticated distribution is however classically placed in the board with most of it between your feet and a super thin nose.

Using such a short board is super fun. The handling is just amazing.

5 boards from 3’11 to 4’11 for all sizes. With the Matata Surf Foiling board, you surf foil with a board at the forefront of modernity, light, solid, dynamic, of high quality, and all this without breaking the bank thanks to our online sales system (direct sale from the shaper to the foiler, without intermediary).

  • The small 3’11 is 27L, which allows those with a high technical level and a small build to have maximum performance.
  • The 4’2 x 32L and the 4’5 x 39L are aimed at riders of a medium size and of a confirmed level.
  • The 4’8 x 47L and 4’11 x 55L are perfect for big guys and progressing, with absolute comfort and accessibility thanks to their generous volumes.

Shape

A wide and very short board, with a thick tail, great for reducing inertia and pumping to infinity ?

This hull shape is radical with an extreme double concave nose which dampens the touchdowns by dissipating the energy and guiding the water to either side of the foil before take off. The hull on the last third will distribute the flow to the outside for even earlier take-offs. The pop is instantaneous.

Its very pronounced kick tail as well as the facets on the front rails and especially the ultra thin rails at the tail allow you to fly serenely without fear of the board braking hard at the slightest touchdown on a chop or in tight curves. Even when touching frankly we have every chance to fly back by pumping vigorously.

The flat deck maximizes control, and the feel is in direct relation with the action. Perfect to really commit.

The rocker is low but strongly accentuated by the work on the hull. The latter lightens the board in complex phases.

The volume distribution is homogeneous to keep the board flat when paddling and paddle efficiently. The reduced volume on the rear rails by the work on the hull lowers the rear volume so as not to create excess. This is the best way to avoid having too much volume at the level of the pelvis on the take off and being lifted too strongly. The tail surface is already considerable, so removing a little volume tempers the corck effect at take off and allows the tail to sink better to start.

Equipements

The Matata FSP Pro are equipped with a front pad and a high-end Square 5mm thick tail pad that provide maximum grip and comfort in the surf, while protecting the board from shocks in sketchy take offs for instance.

The set of footstraps is offered with the board. Comfortable and light, they offer perfect support for your feet even in the craziest tricks. The goofy and regular multi-position strap inserts allow you to mount straps for your stance. This will give you a more direct and precise control in your maneuvers.

These boards are fitted with two US boxes with 9cm center distance (the standard box for foil plates on the market). You can therefore mount all the foil plates in the world according to your desires and your style.

The pressure relief screw is automatic. It is made up of a waterproof membrane that allows air to pass through. It will handle the common variations in pressure between the outside and the inside of your board. The durability gain is considerable, without having to worry about it.

And with the leash plug on the back of the board to secure your leash, nothing is missing.

Construction

These boards are equipped with our innovative and high-end technology called FSP Pro. This full-carbon full sandwich PVC offers the best dynamism while preserving strength, at an incredible weight. It’s quite simply the ultimate in vacuum technology for customs, used as standard on our production models.

The shape is cut with a numerical control (CNC) from a high-end and lightweight EPS foam blank.

We glue in vacuum on the entire board, at a pressure of several tons, a fiberglass and high density PVC foam (called Airex) which forms a hydrophobic shell of 3mm that’s super strong and rigid.

Then we apply a carbon fiber which completely covers the sandwich of the board. This high-end fiber brings a crazy dynamism to the shape. The overlap of the two layers on the rails reinforces this portion of the shape and strongly stiffens the board.

These outer layers are also placed in vacuum. This modern process densifies the composite and leaves it only the exact dose of useful resin. The rest is absorbed by a blotting cloth to make your board as light as possible.

Then come the finishing coats with a first hot coat in epoxy resin, super resistant to impact. Then a polyester hot coat which will equalize the micro variations of the surface (less than a millimeter).

And finally the decoration which is as light as possible, therefore with transparency effects which reveal the construction for the greatest pleasure of the eyes. We don’t like painting because it puts on a lot of weight and it’s fragile. We prefer noble materials directly accessible under your eyes and sublimated by some stylish decorative elements.

Our technology is truly the pinnacle of board building. Durable, efficient, repairable, the brands capable of offering a total PVC sandwich in large series for surf foiling boards can be counted on the fingers of one hand and GONG is the leading one!

At GONG our boards are the highest quality. Our low prices may come as a surprise, but they can only be explained by our direct sales model which eliminates margins.

Finally if by bad luck you damage your board, it will be easily repairable because it was well built. We stock components for your preferred repairer and publish dozens of tutorials to help you maintain your equipment throughout its life.

Your benefits are clear:

1. An efficient shape created by one of the leaders in the surf foiling world.

Shape

  • Rocker: 100% foil for paddling faster and pumping without touchdowns.
  • Rails: faceted and generous to have a great stability at take-off and avoid braking in the curves.
  • Volume: important to reduce length and inertia.
  • Outline: as compact as it gets!
  • Tail: Large diamond tail for immediate glide and control in choppy water without losing speed on touchdowns.
  • Nose: Round pin with a very marked V on the hull, it facilitates the management of the touchdowns in the choppy water.
  • Deck: flat deck plan to keep control despite the volume.
  • Bottom: ultra-worked hull to boost water flow.

Buying guide

For whom?

From the confirmed to the Pro, the Matata is for those with foil experience looking for performance.

Whether you’re a lightweight or of a strong build, the Matata range offers all volumes.

What is it for?

Pretty much everything you love about surf foiling is awesome on the Matata FSP Pro Surf Foiling board. Drop with a tiny amount of foam, pick up speed, carve in a handkerchief, densify your surf, return to the peak without forcing, connect the next bump with a big turn, do this 5 times, 10 times etc…

Obviously with its mini length it is not the queen of paddling, so with this board you should favor spots with breaking waves that you can catch on your way back. And you can especially bet on its pumping performance to add up the flight minutes.

What size?

  • The 3’11 x 27L is the ultimate size: light or top level only.
  • The 4’2 x 32L is high performance but with “volume”
  • The 4’5 x 39L is also high performance but with a lot of comfort
  • The 4’8 x 47L is comfortable, perfect for the bigger foilers
  • The 4’11 x 55L is very comfortable, what else? ?

In all cases, they are very compact shapes offering a lot of dynamism.

How to choose the size of the board bag for my Surf Foil Board Matata?

Understanding the GONG range?

We can very simply summarize the concepts of each board in our range:

HIPE: the inflatable with 95% of the stiffness. Ideal for beginners and much more!
Lance: the easy surf foiling board that’s comfortable to paddle.
Matata: maximum compactness for an unmatched reactivity.
Lethal: speed, control and total radicality for the pros.

What is the ideal foil?

To start the Rise or the X-Over front wing are the best choices because they make your first steps easier. They fly at very low speeds. Therefore it’s less scary and you can fly in almost nothing.

Then you should switch to wings with more performance to gain top speed and seek high performance.

The must is to upgrade this foil with a 70cm monobloc carbon Pro mast.

And for beginners, a shorter mast is easier.

Quiver partners?

If you’re into surf foiling you’ll be into classic surfing when the waves are good and hollow. You will have a wide range of choice in our range to complete your quiver.

Surf foiling tends to eat up the usual SUP program because it enjoys the same waves. It’s not easy to marry the two but having diversity in a quiver is always a plus. Surf foiling is typically perfect in the conditions of an NFA for example.

We will often complement a surf foiling board with a wing because it is the ideal combination when the wind is rising. The wing is really the “ski lift” for a surf foiler. It’s a completely natural extension of it.

Which settings?

A beginner will pull the foil all the way back.

And an expert will place his foil in the center of the boxes.

Which leash?

A short leash, a 5′ of 6 mm is sufficient in small waves. A 6′of 7mm will be much safer as soon as it gets bigger. It’s your lifejacket, you have to use it to protect yourself and others. It is imperative to renew it every year because it wears out.

How to place and adjust your straps?

Included equipments

  • 2 US boxes allow the assembly of a foil equipped with a plate of 4 screws + nuts.
  • 8 inserts of 5-hole footstraps to optimize your position, Goofy or Regular.
  • 2 GONG symmetric large light footstraps (screws included).
  • A 5 mm grooved deck pad for absolute grip and comfort, incorporating a tail pad with kicker for perfect strapless rear foot positioning. Deck pad and tail pad glued during manufacture, in the factory.
  • Leash plug Concrete Fixed at the tail so you never lose your board.
  • Automatic vent screw.(LINK TO THE HOW TO)

Shipping

Availability:

The dates of availability of all our products are written on each product page, in the size and colour of the product concerned.

These dates are valid at the moment you consult the site and/or place an order. It is possible that this product may be ordered a few seconds after your consultation. It then becomes unavailable. If you have placed an order, this change does not concern you: the product you order is still available on the date indicated at the time of your order.

We sell several thousand products per week. The stocks are therefore very evolutionary. But our management always shows you the real availability live.

If it’s available online: it’s available ?

Pre-order:

Some articles are proposed in pre-order during their routing to our premises. You can buy this article which will arrive at our place in a few weeks. This method avoids the fair to grab upon receipt of the lot and the disappointed ones who would not order within the hour.

Upon receipt, we will ship it to you as a regular order.

The times indicated on the pre-orders are 95% reliable. First of all, because we only pre-sell finished products that are arriving to us after Customs, and therefore shipped right after. And also, because we add decent margins with concern to the dates announced by the shipping companies or railways.

However, a Worker Strike, a breakdown, an overbooking, can unfortunately happen. In the case of a delay, you will be notified by email (check your spam). It is generally less than a week and totally independent of our good will.

As soon as we receive the container in La Baule, we ship your order within three working days. Then the carrier takes over: delivery time and tracking numbers are under their responsibility.

It is possible that the date displayed on the online for the pre-order of the item you have ordered and paid for may change for two reasons:

  1. All quantities of the batch are sold (most common reason). In this case, orders placed for the first container will be delivered as scheduled.
  2. The container is late and we have to shift the date by a few days. (Strikes, breakdowns, overbooking, can unfortunately happen). You will be notified by email.

We never change the delivery dates of a container without notifying customers.

Delays:

The dates that we announce are shipping deadlines, which GONG has in stock and available here physically.

We usually give a shipping time within 3 days, but in most cases, we ship within 24/48 hours. Normally morning orders leave in the afternoon for example.

Then the transport service takes over. The variables are then important between the customer being delivered to France (very fast) or Bulgaria (a good week) or to a forwarding agent or to Asia or the USA… You understand that each location has its own type of delay.

We work with serious and well-known carriers. They do their utmost to make you happy even if a snafu can happen. In any case, we are there to make things easier and to arrange our customers.

Shipping Fees:

Contrary to others, we do not hide shipping costs in the price of our products. At GONG everyone knows exactly what he pays. The transport is charged at its strictest value, and the person who comes to pick up his products does not pay hidden transport fees.

Shipping costs are calculated according to the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address. To this is added a labour time of order preparation.

The invoicing of the shipping costs is identical in continental France and in the bordering European countries. A surcharge is automatically invoiced for deliveries to the most distant European countries and all European islands.

For a shipment in French overseas departments and territories or outside Europe, our logistics department will contact you before the payment stage to give you an estimate of the shipping costs. You will be able to accept this estimate and pay your order, or refuse it and cancel your order.

Any questions:

We answer you within 24 hours by email. But 95% of your questions are answered on the site. Try to use our contact form which will guide you to all these answers.

Don’t forget to read the Forum, where thousands of users exchange information and experiences.

In any case, don’t panic. If you don’t get an answer during the weekend, it’s normal: the team is resting ?

We are passionate and professional in our job. Our only goal is to make you happy, as much as possible ?

Eco-responsible packaging:

Preserving the environment is a top priority. That’s why we are doing everything possible to reduce our environmental footprint.

The first thing is to sell quality products that will last, be repairable and will please you for a long time.

The second thing is to sell for less. Most of the pollution coming from a Board is in its use (the km driven to use it) and in the countless environmental damages you have to do to pay for it. Each euro spent is a sum of damage related to your life quite simply: eating, working hard etc… By reducing the price of our products, we significantly reduce your ecological footprint on this item.

For our shipments we use:

  • Flexi-Hex: ecological packaging of very high resistance.
  • Paper Craft Scotch Tape.
  • Final packaging made of high-end cardboard.

All this for:

  • Reusable and recyclable packaging.
  • An almost total reduction of single-use plastic.
  • Maximum protection and impact resistance thanks to the innovative design of Flexi-Hex honeycomb (35mm thick).

Tracking of your parcels :

The tracking of deliveries is directly ensured by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your parcels. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose the delivery methods and to follow the route of your package.

If you ask us for this tracking, we will have to do as you do: we will go see on the carrier’s app because they are the ones who manage and are responsible for this job.

Delivery:

We collaborate with the best transport providers to deliver you everywhere in Europe and in the world in very short delays.

We have chosen them for their quality of service and their respect of deadlines. 80% of your orders reach their destination in less than 48 hours of processing in metropolitan and continental France.

For Europe, the delays vary from 3 to 6 days depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delays can be up to 15 days.

Please note that the transport time is added to the preparation/shipping time. Two companies work on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one controls its activity and commits itself to optimize its delays so that you are delivered as soon as possible, in good condition and at a reasonable price.

Reception of your Board:

Upon delivery, simply open and inspect the condition of your Board in the presence of the carrier. A complete email explaining the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

In spite of our requirements and all the care we take in packaging and protecting your Board, transportation hazards may occur. Even if it concerns less than 2% of everything we ship around the world, a Board can suffer a more or less important transportation shock.

But in any case, don’t worry, just refuse it, and a new Board will be shipped back to you.

Returns:

You can choose to return your products if:

  • You are not satisfied (14 days right of retraction).
  • You want to change an item.
  • You have refused your package.

For each situation, contact us by our contact form to help you.

2 reviews for GONG SURF FOIL BOARD MATATA FSP PRO
