100% high performance Surf Foil Board, which starts off early in soft waves.

The Matata Foil Boards are a reference in the world of Surf Foil for their accessibility and performance.

With their new shapes and the FSP 2X techno, we go one step further.

The flow has been rethought. The tail is thicker to facilitate take off and rebalance the Board especially during pumping. The deck plan is less hollow than the previous one: it doesn’t store water in the bowl but keeps a flat deck for the best feel/control. Finally, the volume gains a few liters and is set back, so it is well between your feet in flight and under your belly when rowing. This gives a thinner nose, and a less bulky and meaner shape.

These Boards are equipped with an innovative technology called FSP 2X for the best weight/strength/performance compromise on the market. The gain is significant since the entire Board is made of PVC Sandwich. This hydrophobic material is 3 times stronger than a conventional foam. It creates an ultra-resistant waterproof shell. The US Boxes are also placed in a high-density PVC block. On top of the Sandwich, the addition of a Biaxial Fiber greatly strengthens the Board: an exemplary resistance to bending and shocks. We then work with tinted resins to avoid as much as possible the paint which loads the Board unnecessarily. When resin tinted, your Board gains in nobility and durability.

This typical Simmons outline shape has everything you need to perform in SurFoil: 100% Foil rocker for fast rowing and pumping with no tail touch. Large volume to reduce length and inertia. Facetted rails to avoid braking in radical curves. Flat deck plan for maximum control despite the volume. Generous rails for easy take off. Flat hull for fast rowing and early take off.

In flight, the space-saving shape is hyper-reactive and very lively, offering undeniable freedom. The positioning on the Board and the balance of the supports are natural. The inertia of this shape is almost nil, which allows a hyper efficient pumping.

4 Boards from 4’5 to 5’8 for all sizes from beginner to expert. With the Matata Foil FSP 2X, you surf with a modern, light, solid, dynamic, high quality Board, and all this without breaking the bank thanks to our online Direct Sales system (Direct from Shaper to Boarder, without intermediaries).

  • The small 4’5 is 29L, which allows those with a high technical level to have maximum performance. The 4’5 is also ideal for small sizes.
  • The 5’0 for 41.5L is ideal for off the hook tricksters and good surfers who want to combine comfort and performance while having an easy paddle out.
  • The larger Boards, the 5’5 for 51.5L and the 5’8 for 60.5L, are perfect for learning and progressing with absolute comfort and accessibility thanks to their generous volumes. And this volume boosts the rowing speed, essential on spots where you don’t go up while pumping.

The Matata Foil FSP 2X are equipped with top-of-the-range pads that provide maximum grip. These Boards are fitted with two US Boxes (the standard Box for Top Plate Foils on the market, 9cm between centers). So, you can assemble all the Top Plate Foils in the world according to your wishes and your style. It has a leash plug on the back to fix your Leash for Surf Foil sessions. Nothing is missing.

  • Rocker : 100% Foil for faster rowing and pumping without touching.
  • Rails : facetted and generous to have a great stability at take-off and avoid braking in the curves.
  • Volume : important to reduce length and inertia.
  • Outline : difficult to make more compact 😉
  • Tail : Wide diamond cut for immediate glide and control in chop without losing speed on touchdown.
  • Nose : Round pin with a very marked V underneath, it makes it easier to manage the touches in the chop.
  • Deck : Flat deck plan to keep control despite the volume.
  • Bottom : Flat hull for an early takeoff.

Innovation is at the core of our Boards

Technology FSP 2X :

  • 3D Shape on modeling software.
  • Preshape by the numerical control for total reliability.
  • Shape control by traditional templates, finishing of the last mm 100% by hand.
  • 100% Epoxy Board and EPS Blank Foam: solid and lightweight.
  • Deck, hull and rails in PVC Vacuumed Sandwich: incomparable strength and incredible dynamism.
  • Deck: integral PVC/Fiberglass Sandwich composed of a high-density PVC foam core and 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz Biaxial fiberglass, fiberglass reinforcements on sensitive areas.
  • Hull: integral PVC/Fiberglass Sandwich composed of a high-density PVC foam core and 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz Biaxial fiberglass, fiberglass reinforcements on the sensitive areas.
  • Specific Foil reinforcements: high-density PVC block housing the two US Rail Boxes. Three layers of carbon cover the Boxes. Laminated PVC slats connect the reinforcement to the deck for maximum durability.
  • Rails: the PVC Sandwich structure completely covers the rails: increased structural strength, very good shock resistance (paddle strokes).
  • Hot Coat integrated Tinted Resin: nobility of the process, weight reduction and solidity of the finish.
  • Matt custom finish, hand-made, for weight reduction and better glide.

The FSP 2X technology is easily repairable when new in case of a Ding. The PVC foam of the sandwich is waterproof and prevents water from entering on everyday shocks.

This technology offers, at an affordable price, the incomparable strength/lightness ratio of full Vacuum PVC Sandwich.

Buying guide

For whom?

From Beginner to Pro, Matata is for all levels.

Light or strong, ditto: the Matata range offers all the solutions.

What is it for?

Almost everything you love on a foil is great on the Matata Foil FSP 2X.

It droops super early so you don’t need nice waves.

You want to start SurfFoiling : it will be ideal and will be with you for a long time.

What Size?

  • The 4’5 is ultimate: light or top level only.
  • The 5’0 is super performant but voluminous.
  • The 5’5 is also high performance, but with a lot of comfort.
  • The 5’8 is super comfortable; ideal for heavy beginners.

In all cases, they are very compact shapes with a great dynamism.

What is the ideal Foil?

The Matata is perfect with our Allvator foils.

We’ll start with the Classic wing because it’s the range of wings that makes your first steps the easiest. It flies at very low speeds. It’s less scary and you fly in almost nothing.

Then we switch to Curved wings (ex Pro) to gain 5 knots of Vmax and look for very high performance. But without spoiling the simplicity that we love to roll the curves.

The must is to upgrade this foil with a Pro 70cm Carbon Monobloc Mast.

And for beginners, a shorter mast makes it easier.

What Quiver Partners?

SurfFoil means you’ll be surfing when the waves are hollow. You’ll be spoiled for choice in our range.

The SurfFoil tends to eat up the usual SUP program because it hunts on the same wave terrain. It’s not easy to marry the two but having diversity in a Quiver is always a plus. The SurfFoil will typically like the conditions of an NFA for example.

You will often complement a SurfFoil Board with a Wingfoil quiver because it is the ideal combination when the wind is rising. Practicing the Wing in the wave is very similar to the surf foil but with a “lift”. It’s a completely natural extension.

What are the Foil Settings?

A beginner will move the Foil all the way back.

And a Pro will place his foil between the center and the back third of the Boxes.

Which Leash?

A short Leash, 5′ and 6 mm is sufficient in small waves. A 6′ 7mm will be much safer as soon as it gets bigger. It’s your lifejacket, you have to wear it to protect yourself and others. It is imperative to replace it every year because it wears out.
