Presentation

The Cruzaders are our most innovative SUP & WING crossover foil boards. With 14 different sizes, they offer a multitude of programs, maximum performance and an uncompromising shape.

Whether you are into winging or SUP foiling, they offer you a complete experience and extreme performance. Downwinders, lightwinds, wave riding, freerace, flat starts, and even surf foil downwinders or surf foiling on tiny waves. Whether you’re geared up with a paddle, a wing or just your arms, the Cruzader is about discovering a new way of gliding, before taking off and flying endlessly.

  • In wing foiling it is simply stunning. It’s the gear to set world records for early takeoffs. 6 knots are all you need, and even less for the pros. Obviously it is an ultra specific use, but what a treat!!!!!! Flying effortlessly in only a few knots of wind, creating enough apparent wind to feel as if you were pulled by a solid 12 knots. Just awesome.
  • With a giant foil, in 6 knots, you only need to pump a few times to get the Cruzader going and the foil into action. Nothing can stop you! The feeling of silence is stunning. Sailing goes relatively fast, in almost nothing. We cruise around, work on maneuvers and if a swell bump crosses your path: it’s a festival. Imagine yourself freeflying on an almost glassy body of water. It’s just insane.
  • With a small foil, 800 to 1000cm2, you will take off 2 to 6 knots earlier than usual, depending on your pumping technique. In 8 knots you will be able to fly your little front wing, and wow… the speed is phenomenal. The glassy body of water scrolls under the board. A rocket when hardly anyone is flying.

And when the wind picks up? The Cruzader will allow you to fly effortlessly. It’s frustration-free. It glides better than any other board. No more insane pumping effort to get going. On the contrary, just get it to glide, pump a little and it will fly easily. And if the wind drops in the middle of a ride, we are almost certain to get going again. And if the wind totally drops, you have the length to calmly return at 3 or 4 knots of speed with the wing. Very facilitating and really reassuring, the Cruzader is not just an extreme board.

Its dimensions may scare, but the length makes it all easier. And note that this is a board that you would usually use in very easy conditions, with little chop and wind. So its finesse is just a plus.

  • Downwinders are its thing, connecting bump after bump, optimizing the lines for non-stop accelerations. Its generous tail and the centered boxes greatly facilitate the take offs. With its bulbous nose, you have the stability you need to press firmly on the front and row like there’s no tomorrow. The board is incredibly efficient.
  • In surfing, the small sizes start earlier than any board with effortless paddling for a ride as cool as it is majestic. So imagine the large sizes with their glide: fantastic. A pair of hand-paddles and you no longer need the paddle, nor the necessary balance 😉

Its tail, directly inspired by the magic tail of the Lethal, produces almost no drag. Worked on two lines, it offers the best take-off potential. The outline line sees the edge rise sharply after the boxes to help lift this long tail. And in the center, the line is extended by a monumental V-shape which perfectly releases the water. Preflight acceleration is extremely effective. This makes the difference because you don’t have to exhaust yourself paddling and/or pumping.

The rails are vertical with sharp edges to favor stability on this toothpick board. It also does wonders for the glide and take-off. You quickly find your balance with a large foil. The board does not roll on the surface.
Its bulbous nose allows you to carry volume while keeping a flat deck for your feet. The assurance of starting early because you can paddle hard in the bumps while maintaining control, even at full speed. This relatively thin nose keeps a little surface so as not to struggle in balance or to have to take a board that is too long. The tail is also a little more generous for a better push on the swell bumps and to maintain a decent balance in choppy conditions.

 

Having this board in a quiver is almost essential as you will be able to fly a wing in practically no air! Do the downwinders of your life and surf unsurfable bumps! And what about taking off on the flat with your buddies, for fun or to do work on your cardio!!!

Shape

Thanks to a width that’s barely larger than the length of your feet, you are on the ultimate board for gliding.

Let’s first talk about its nose bulb which gives that little extra tolerance that changes everything. With this additional volume at the nose, we are obviously more stable when stationary. But we also have a real gain when sailing, especially when pearling or landing: the board pops up again immediately.

Adding volume to the nose allowed us to lower the deck plan at foot level for the same volume. This volume that has slipped at the nose allows you to be closer to the foil with a lower deck under your feet, and therefore have much more control and responsiveness. Here too the gain is considerable because control is fundamental in Downwind.

Its extremely narrow outline boosts its preflight speed and take-off. Once in the air, you enjoy a unique ability to go for almost every angle in the curves without ever touching the water.

Its veeeeeery hydrodynamic tail allows you to embark “hidden volume”. Indeed, the tail is thick but with its magical glide it’s only positive. Unlike beveled tails, our Magic Tail promotes flow. The board glides much better before the flight. We don’t have this depression at the tail that sucks the board back. With our magic tail, we therefore gain in glide, takeoff, repop, and in complicated out of balance situations where the volume at the tail becomes a real plus.

 

 

The facets on the rails allow you to fly without fearing a crushing blow at the slightest touchdown on a chop or in tight curves. Even smaller, they do their job with an 85 cm mast. The top rails are full to keep a flat deck closer to the outline and maximize lateral stability.

The very soft double concave under the nose coupled with the bulb and the very narrow outline make the touchdowns inconsequential. Instead of braking, the Cruzader will bounce off the water and immediately fly back up. It’s really unbelievable.

 

 

Finally, the rounded point nose develops the liveliness of a thin nose but brings some additional comfort, reinforced by the bulbous nose. The wide round point tail frees the board at take-off and in the curves.

Equipments

The set of footstraps included with the board includes 1 x V-shaped Strap Light & 1 x Symmetric Strap Light, which allows you to equip your board for a wing foiling use.
To set the straps on the Cruzader for a SUP stance, you just need to complete your quiver with a Symmetric Light strap (we avoid delivering it so as not to create waste for those who will not use it, available on request).

We have revised the outline of our straps to further improve comfort. Developed for wing foiling, these less covering straps do not bend when put on. More rigid, they offer a more precise steering but are still as comfortable. There is less surface area on the feet so there is less risk of staying stuck in the straps or banging your foot on the edge of the strap when rushing into it. It also allows better leeward control (tip of the foot) and therefore a more natural attitude in wing foiling.
We have worked on every detail to improve your experience on the water.

The multiple positions of the inserts allow you to ride in wing or SUP foiling depending on your program of the day. With a total of 13 lines of inserts, each offering 5 different positions, you can be sure to find the ideal position, whatever your size, level and practice.

 

 

Our SCS system launched on the HIPE is integrated on all our foil boards. It’s beautiful, efficient and above all it saves time you can spend on the water. With its 4 entries, the GONG double entry box facilitates the assembly and adjustment of the foil. Performance without the hassle. We leave the nuts and the screws on the plate, just insert the foil, screw and off we go! Setting up the foil is much faster and easier. It is the plug and play solution which facilitates adjustments! (inserts not supplied with the board).

 

 

 

With an additional length of 10 cm compared to classic US boxes, the double entry GONG XL US BOXES offer a wider range of settings for your Cruzader, depending on your foil sport, your stance or your foil for the day.

A handle developed by our R&D and our ergonomics engineer has been integrated into our boards this year. We can better close our hands in it: firmer and more comfortable grip. The depressurization screw is directly integrated into the handle.

It is placed on the hull to allow one-handed carrying. You can have the wing and the paddle in the other hand to get past the whitewater or to get out of the water. And as we always do things seriously, the handle is placed in a block of hydrophobic PVC foam and covered with fiber.

 

 

The top-of-the-range 5mm thick integral pad provides maximum grip and comfort when sailing, while protecting the board from shocks. This year we have changed the grooving to provide even more comfort and more grip. This hard brush pad sublimates the board. This flat pad provides absolute comfort and a magical grip with more precision. This is obvious on long sessions: the feet are less tired.

These boards are equipped with our innovative technology called FSP Pro. The highest quality on the market.

This full PVC Carbon sandwich offers the best dynamism while preserving strength, at an incredible weight. It’s quite simply the ultimate in vacuum technology for customs, used as standard on our production models : the same tech as the one used on our prototypes made in our shape rooms in France.

FULL sandwich means that the entire board is covered with a layer of 3mm high density hydrophobic PVC foam. This includes the rails, which allows better resistance and perfect sealing in the event of an impact. Above all, the sandwich on the rails are essential to have a rigid board as they work as a solid frame when the board takes flex. The dynamism is really superior and the durability of the board is second to none. This tech is not adopted by all competing brands. What they call sandwich construction is often a simple PVC reinforcement under the feet (and sometimes on the hull). At GONG we do things as seriously as they can be, so in full sandwich.
The carbon fiber that completely covers the board boosts its performance. It is clearly much livelier. Its response time is ultra fast, it does not twist, you are in direct contact with the foil and the elements.
All the lamination steps of the high density sandwich and then of the fiber are carried out under vacuum. The board is under strong pressure, from 2 to 4 tonnes depending on the stage, to ensure flawless bonding of the layers. With the use of drains we optimize the amount of resin on the board leaving only the optimum. Your board is light and super compact. A durable board made to handle all the stresses of a board’s life, its construction also offers a sound basis for any future repairs. So your board will stay like new for years or decades with proper maintenance. This durability will make a lot of people happy from one owner to the next, and avoids polluting with “disposable” boards.

To implement this very complex technology, we need time. A board without a full sandwich is built in 6 to 8 hours. GONG full sandwich boards take 12 to 14 hours of work. You understand that all these steps lengthen the production circuit and are therefore a monumental investment in quality.

For 2023 we have replaced the classic US Boxes, which everyone uses but which were not originally designed for foiling, with our own US Double Entry GONG Boxes designed and tested by our design office for extreme use in foiling. These new boxes are specifically reinforced in areas of high stress and are molded with a high fiber content. Durability is increased tenfold. We are clearly on the best BOX on the market which corresponds exactly to our needs in terms of resistance and functionality. What could be simpler than aligning the 4 nuts with the 4 entrances and sliding the foil into the box? 3 turns with a screw tightener and it’s ready. It’s so easy that you’ll wonder how you could do it the old way for years hahaha.

The foil boxes are placed in a large PVC 80kg/m3 reinforcement thicker than the boxes. Without any risk of water infiltration in the EPS sandwich, even with an intense impact. This reinforcement is connected to the PVC sandwich of the deck with PVC slats to ensure the cohesion of the whole and to avoid any play in the reinforcements over the years. Everything is fitted with fiberglass reinforcements for tolerance and carbon to limit bending. The handle is also set in a waterproof PVC block.

Remember that the high density PVC blocks that house the boxes and the handle are in addition to the full PVC sandwich. The anchoring is absolutely perfect. Not to compare with a reinforcement simply held by layers of fiber. Our reinforcements take hold on a high thickness of rigid material that you would not be able to bend by hand for example, which you could if it was only layers of fibers.

Buying guide

For whom?

Sizes in XL are very easy in wing foiling. You will find no difficulty, even an athletic beginner will be OK on the longest sizes. And the gain in glide will be fantastic in light winds.

In SUP foiling, you must have a good level of practice, even on a Cruzader XL.

For the classic Cruzaders (narrow, not XL), you must have a good level because these Cruzaders are demanding. In wing foiling it is easy but sporty. But paddling and especially in choppy conditions is very technical.

So it’s a board for everyone, not just for the pros, if chosen in the right size.

For what?

The Cruzader is the ultimate SUP board for downwinders and ultra light wing foiling conditions.

This is THE board to be on the water as much as possible. You’ll never miss a session because of the gear.

And as it is narrow, it is comfortable in all performance registers, including top speed in wing foiling or DW because the control at “high speed is fantastic”.

It really is a great Race board for light wind wing foiling, let’s say under 20 knots. It optimizes take-off so you can easily use a small foil. The speed is impressive.

Ideal for surfing on soft bumps, it allows you to make the most of mediocre days and to do a surf foil downwinder.

In wing foiling, it is the absolute tool to fly in super light wind conditions.

On windless flat days, it’s a fantastic toy to have fun with friends, flying with a huge foil, or to work on cardio.

What Size?


The Cruzader is the ultimate SUP board but by playing on the volumes, we can adapt it to our needs.

In SUP foiling, remember that short lengths are for the Pros. Below 7′ it’s tricky. Afterwards you absolutely must have a largely positive volume balance. Your weight plus the weight of the board should be less than the volume of the board. Do not hesitate to go for extra volume and width if you are not sure you can handle it.
An experienced and athletic SUPer should have enough volume to float with some margin, around his weight + 30 or +40 = volume.

  • Example: I weigh 80kg + 40 = 120L to float. Which means that with a 120L I will float, provided I have a good level in SUP foiling. If I want comfort, I will have to add width and length.

A Pro SUPer should have enough volume to float, around his weight + 10 or +20 = volume.

  • Example: I weigh 80kg + 10 = 90L to float. Which means that with a 90L I will float, provided I have a good level in SUP foiling. If I want comfort, I should add 20L instead of 10 and go for a 100L board.

To wing foil, you can take it very generously to have a versatile and easy board. But if you already have a good level you will on the contrary seek the most optimal volume by following the same rule as for SUP foiling above.

Comfort:

You must take a sufficient volume to have balance, about your weight + 40 = volume. And in XL.

  • Example: I weigh 75kg + 40 = 115L to float. Which means that with 115L and more wing foiling will be easy.

Sport:

You can also liter it just above your weight because the Cruzader is quite stable for winging, about your weight + 10 or + 20 = volume.

  • Example: I weigh 80kg + 10 = 90L to float. Which means that with a 90L board I will float, provided I have a good level in wing foiling.

In wing foiling, remember that the length facilitates gliding and balance. But a Pro will know how to get a small board going and fly light 😉

For the pros

In the Fluid H, Veloce H or Ypra range: very high performance and fast wings:

At this level, everyone will be able to adapt their gear to their needs. Just remember that the wingspan is a point to take into consideration when riding high aspect ratio foils. The glide is fabulous, but be careful not to sacrifice maneuverability and rail-to-rail precision by using large sizes if you are looking for a very reactive drive.

The size of the front wing and in particular its surface and its volume condition the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go but the more uncomfortable you will be at low speeds. The bigger the wing, the earlier you will fly but with a loss in maneuverability and top speed.

The stabs have a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but to the detriment of the maximum speed of the foil and its maneuverability if they are too large. The role of the stabilizer is to stabilize the foil but also to compensate for the natural tendency of the front wing to dive. So you must have a good balance of surfaces between your stab and your front wing. A 38 cm stab with an XXL wing will give a catastrophic result at high speed: the foil will dive because the stab will no longer be able to lift enough to counteract the nosediving torque of the front wing.

Remember that the stab must be proportional to the front wing. Creating an imbalance brings no benefit except the illusion of a better glide.
For instance, the X-Over stabs are slower than the Fluid or Veloce stabs, but are much more buoyant, and therefore effective at low speed or with a large front wing (for beginners for example). Conversely, the Pro stabs are very thin and not very buoyant, therefore delicate with large thick wings which have an important nosediving torque.

Which mast for the foil?

The mast you need sits clearly between 70 and 85 cm. Find all our advice on choosing between these two lengths by clicking here.

Positioning of the foil?

For GONG foils, place the plate in the rear third when you start and in the center of the US rails when you progress. The Pros can position the foil even further towards the front for more lift and maneuverability.

The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

What type of paddle?

When using a paddle in SUP foiling, downwinders or flat starts you have to deal with new constraints. The efforts generated in these disciplines are shorter, but also much more intense as you need to be explosive to get going with the little energy of a bump (or no energy at all).

When SUP foiling, whatever SUP background you’re coming from, the efforts are more intense than what you have experienced so far. It is therefore essential to have equipment capable of withstanding these mechanical stresses. These new sports require suitable equipment, because there is a real risk of breakage using an inappropriate paddle.

With our ultimate SUP foiling boards, the Cruzader and HIPE Cruzader, choosing a fixed paddle is a must. It will diffuse the energy generated over the entire length of the shaft, rather than concentrating it on the junctions of an adjustable paddle or dismountable paddle.

You will therefore be able to give 100% without being afraid of the constraints applied during your take-offs.

For this, we recommend the Pro Carbon Paddle, our top-of-the-range paddle which, thanks to its dynamic qualities and its versatile shape, works as well in SUP foiling as in Race. Its high power and incredible performance allow the board to accelerate with each impulse. Its entries and exits from the water are fluid and allow high speeds to be reached and the foil to take off quickly.

What paddle length and blade?

For the Cruzader, you need a paddle between your height and your height +10cm. If flat starts are your objective, you will need a powerful paddle, so at least an 8” Pro paddle for SUP foilers of light/medium builds, or a 9” Pro paddle for tall builds. A small blade will not give you the power you need to reach the right takeoff speed, unless you have a very light build and are very fit.

The Carbon Pro 9” paddle

Which leash?

Take a 6′ of 7mm minimum diameter, and a 7’ for the 7’0 and more.

When wing foiling, freeride or race; a 6′ is fine.

Check its condition before each session and change it every year. It is your lifejacket and a life insurance for people on your way.

Strap or Strapless?

Riding strapless is sexy because it makes you feel free. But quite honestly, it’s not the best for performance…

So, it’s up to you to see if sensation prevails over performance. On a Cruzader, you will have the choice according to your practice: strapped in wing foiling and strapless for downwinders and pumping.

Put your straps in a central position (3rd hole) for the front, and the same goes for the back strap if you always ride with the back strap (it can be used as a marker stop).

Pre-order:

Some articles are proposed in pre-order during their routing to our premises. You can buy this article which will arrive at our place in a few weeks. This method avoids the fair to grab upon receipt of the lot and the disappointed ones who would not order within the hour.

Upon receipt, we will ship it to you as a regular order.

The times indicated on the pre-orders are 95% reliable. First of all, because we only pre-sell finished products that are arriving to us after Customs, and therefore shipped right after. And also, because we add decent margins with concern to the dates announced by the shipping companies or railways.

However, a Worker Strike, a breakdown, an overbooking, can unfortunately happen. In the case of a delay, you will be notified by email (check your spam). It is generally less than a week and totally independent of our good will.

As soon as we receive the container in La Baule, we ship your order within three working days. Then the carrier takes over: delivery time and tracking numbers are under their responsibility.

It is possible that the date displayed on the online for the pre-order of the item you have ordered and paid for may change for two reasons:

  1. All quantities of the batch are sold (most common reason). In this case, orders placed for the first container will be delivered as scheduled.
  2. The container is late and we have to shift the date by a few days. (Strikes, breakdowns, overbooking, can unfortunately happen). You will be notified by email.

We never change the delivery dates of a container without notifying customers.

 

Delays:

The dates that we announce are shipping deadlines, which GONG has in stock and available here physically.

We usually give a shipping time within 3 days, but in most cases, we ship within 24/48 hours. Normally morning orders leave in the afternoon for example.

Then the transport service takes over. The variables are then important between the customer being delivered to France (very fast) or Bulgaria (a good week) or to a forwarding agent or to Asia or the USA… You understand that each location has its own type of delay.

We work with serious and well-known carriers. They do their utmost to make you happy even if a snafu can happen. In any case, we are there to make things easier and to arrange our customers.

 

Shipping Fees: 

Contrary to others, we do not hide shipping costs in the price of our products. At GONG everyone knows exactly what he pays. The transport is charged at its strictest value, and the person who comes to pick up his products does not pay hidden transport fees.

Shipping costs are calculated according to the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address. To this is added a labour time of order preparation.

In spite of our requirements and all the care we take in packaging and protecting your Board, transportation hazards may occur. Even if it concerns less than 2% of everything we ship around the world, a Board can suffer a more or less important transportation shock.

But in any case, don’t worry, just refuse it, and a new Board will be shipped back to you.

    La cruzader est vraiment un game changer…pour ceux qui n’ont pas le temps de:
    – choisir les conditions optimales
    – attendre le vent pour décoller
    – tomber sur une grosse touchette
    – attendre le vent pour re-décoller (si jamais on tombe quand même)
    – ramer pour rentrer ( si le vent tombe pendant un downwind)
    – s’encombrer d’une grande wing ou foil car limité au décollage
    Bref grâce à la Cruzader , peu importe le vent, ça passe (au risque de se répéter)
    Durant les 7 derniers jours j’ai pu enchaîner 3 downwinder en wing, dont 2 à moins de 10kt , sans problème (mon binôme n’a pas pu les finir) . 1 session offshore super rafaleuse (5 à 30 kt) et 1 downwinder en SUP ( niveau débutant donc pas encore de success)
    Et la y’a plus de vent du tout mais c’est pas grave, je vais aller bosser mon décollage en SUP à plat et/ou sur très petite vague.

    Welcome to the revolution! Since I received this board my days on the water have exploded, there is no more days of to light wind or to flat. With the Cruzader it’s possible to enjoy every kind of conditions…Flat water pair it with the Sirus and you can fly in literally flat water. Super light wind? This board will be able to fly when there is no other board on the water flying. And for downwind it’s just a pure joy, so easy to take off and glide for km on end connecting with nature.

    Mon idée de départ en prenant une cruzader était de partir upwind faire un deflate et partir à la rame en prône😁
    Après une 10ene de session Ce que je peux dire :
    A l’arrêt , grosse stabilité en tangage,
    En roulis c’est gérable en s’appuyant sur la wing mais on ne reste pas traîné à genoux. Une fois debout, et des les premiers coups de pumping la planche glisse et accélère sans pousser d’eau(bluffant).
    J’ai l’impression qu’en basculant légèrement mon poids sur le pied arrière au pumping, le foil monte très tôt tout en accélérant 😁
    Dans le light,
    Départ au planning ultra précoce. En sirus L j’ai pu décoller dans 5,6 nds mais sans réussir à garder le vol.
    Ce jour-là j’avais également une sirus L avec une hipe pro 4.6, Impossible pour moi de faire accélérer la board.
    Pour info :
    En curve MH, 8, 10 nds me suffisent pour décoller.
    En curve SH 12, 13 nds et la vitesse commence à vraiment être sympa.
    Sur mes premières sessions j’ai vraiment été bluffé par son ‘’ agilité ‘’ , la board est hyper maniable. On a en plus le sentiment de constamment bombarder.
    Les premiers changements de pied ont été un peu chauds 😁 mais on s’y habitue vite.
    Les tacks et jibes ont été d’une facilité que je me suis directement demandé ce que ça donnerait en waveriding.
    Aujourd’hui,
    J’ai navigué dans un vent entre 20/28 nds avec une houle de 2m.
    À l’arrêt, dans un plan d’eau défoncé, c’est un peu tendu mais pareil on s’y habitue.
    Un pote était en lethal 4.6 curve SH 3m et moi avec ma Cruz, curve xsh et 3m.
    Je n’ai jamais eu de soucis à décoller quand lui s’est épuisé pour essayer de prendre le vol 😁.
    Dans les surfs je retrouve le côté hyper agile qui m’avait bluffé à ma première session, le volume et la longueur au nose ne se font clairement pas ressentir,
    Un vrai régal !
    Pour résumer :
    Pour mes 70 kg,
    La cruzader 5.6 peut être ma planche a tout faire ( je ne fais pas de freestyle)
    Les + :
    Départ au planning ultra preco.
    Une glisse incroyable.
    Je peux facilement descendre d’une taille de foil tout en partant au planning encore plus tôt en gardant une meilleure maniabilité qu’avec un foil plus gros.
    Une planche vraiment agile dans les manœuvres et les surfs ( il faut vraiment essayer pour y croire) 😁
    Les moins :
    Je crois que je vais me séparer de ma lethal 4.6 car je peux naviguer en cruzader dans tout type de conditions sans ressentir ‘’un volume trop important ‘’
    P’tit bonus, j’ai réussi à prendre des surfs avec dans des vagues qui ne déferlent pas😁

    🏎 Le jour où … j’ai tout lâché pour la Cruzader 🌊
    Hello,
    Un témoignage d’un rider qui a eu un coup de foudre pour la gamme de Cruzader … au point d’en avoir fait LA planche allround de son quiver.
    Pour contextualiser, je suis un rider d’1m83, 90kg (31 ans) issu du surf et de la voile légère pratiquant 2x/ semaine depuis 23 ans.
    Depuis 3 ans, ma passion pour la wing réside dans son efficacité à remonter le spot pour descendre les trains de houle et surfer de loooongues vagues qui ouvrent et y caler de belles courbes. No freestyle/jump.
    J’ai commencé sur la fidèle Zuma 6’9, pour ensuite progresser sur une Lemon 5’0 (95L), compacte et stable, parfaite pour les premières vraies courbes, puis Lethal 4’10 (85L) à la recherche de moins de largeur pour plus d’angle dans les surfs et moins de touchettes.
    C’était parfait … jusqu’au jour où j’ai testé la Cruzader !
    D’abord avec une Cruzader 7’0XL (135L) par crainte de son étroitesse et donc son manque de stabilité, j’ai rapidement senti que je pouvais largement gérer une taille en dessous et plus étroite (6’6 – 112L).
    À genou, pas de déséquilibre avant/arrière et dès que tu prends la wing en main ça accélère fort et efface tout déséquilibre latéral (le parallèle avec le vélo est très vrai pour la Cruzader. Un coup de pédale et le déséquilibre est oublié)
    Pour décoller, il faut changer de technique par rapport à une board courte et plus large. Pas besoin du rebond énergétique en tapant le clapot avec le pied avant mais c’est véritablement grâce à un double pumping wing (haut/bas) et un mouvement gracieux et rythmé avant/arrière de la Cruzader (littéralement poids sur l’avant puis tout sur l’arrière et de manière répétée) que la planche va décoller de manière assez magique. La clé c’est d’utiliser la longueur de la planche ainsi que la bascule.
    Une fois décollé, les premiers Jibe seront déroutants mais on s’adapte vite. Ce qui est incroyable c’est qu’on a le sentiment de tracer et fendre l’air, le feeling de ce shape est juste tellement bon ! La Cruzader paraît longue et surdimensionnée sur la plage à côté des planches « pocket » des copains mais une fois sur l’eau c’est tout l’inverse !!!
    Plus de touchettes, des angles improbables dans les turns sans être déstabilisé et ce qui est paradoxal c’est qu’on devient radical dans les turns, en une session, on débloque un niveau, c’est dément !
    La semaine dernière, il y avait 20 noeuds 1m20 de houle longue et rapide, je me suis forcé à prendre ma Lethal 4’10 car, à tort, j’avais en tête que la Cruzader était une light wind board. ERREUR ! J’étais perdu, j’ai pris de grosse boites car beaucoup trop de touchettes. Tout à coup, je trouvais la Lethal trop large, pataude, pas assez élancée pour aller chercher les courbes, moins réactive dans les relances en fin de manœuvres.
    Mais le problème c’est moi, pas la Lethal qui est une planche de pro parfaite en board hybride surf / freestyle (faut voir ce qu’envoie Malo avec!). Mais moi j’ai trouvé mon mid-length parfait pour mon usage, du surf de courbes interminables, de rollers sans touchettes et de prises d’angle comme jamais j’aurai cru en être capable.
    En Bonus 1 : Pouvoir avoir le strap arrière décentré en position surf (en utilisant les inserts prévus pour le SUP)
    En Bonus 2 : dans les zones déventées où sont les vagues les plus clean, j’adore me gaver quand je vois les copains scotchés avec des boards qui ne génèrent pas autant de glisse avant décollage.
    Note de fin : Fini pour moi les pocket boards, maintenant c’est Cruzader 5’6XL (90L) pour les conditions velues et vagues creuses et Cruzader 6’6 (112L) pour les sessions lightwind et carving !!!

    The day I gave it all up for the Cruzader.

    Hello,

    A testimonial from a rider who fell head over heels for the Cruzader range… to the point of making it THE all-round board in his quiver.

    To give you some context, I’m a 6ft rider, weighing 198lbs (31 years old) with a background in surfing and sailing dinghys, practicing twice a week for 23 years.

    For the past 3 years, my love for wing-surfing lies in its efficiency in going upwind to ride down the swell and surf looong waves, carving beautiful turns. No freestyle/jumping.

    I started with the trusty Zuma 6’9, then moved on to a Lemon 5’0 (95L) – compact and stable, perfect for those first real carves, and then to the Lethal 4’10 (85L) seeking less width for sharper angles in the surf and fewer tail taps.

    It was perfect… until I tried the Cruzader!

    I started with a Cruzader 7’0XL (135L), apprehensive of its narrowness and potential lack of stability. I quickly realized I could handle a size smaller and narrower (6’6 – 112L).

    Kneeling on it, there’s no front/back imbalance, and as soon as you get the wing in hand, it accelerates powerfully, erasing any side imbalance (the bike analogy is very apt for the Cruzader. One pedal stroke and any imbalance is forgotten).

    For takeoff, the technique is different from a shorter and wider board. You don’t need the energetic bounce by hitting the chop with the front foot. Instead, it’s all about double pumping the wing (up/down) and a graceful, rhythmic fore/aft motion on the Cruzader (literally shifting weight front then all to the back repeatedly) that makes the board take off quite magically. The key is to use the board’s length and its rocking motion.

    Once airborne, the first jibes might feel strange, but one adapts quickly. It’s amazing how it feels like you’re slicing through the air; the feel of this shape is just so good! The Cruzader looks long and oversized on the beach next to the “pocket” boards of friends, but once on water, it’s the complete opposite!

    No more tail taps, crazy angles in turns without being thrown off balance. Paradoxically, turns become more radical. In one session, you break through a level; it’s crazy!

    Last week, with 20 knots and a 4ft long and fast swell, I forced myself to take out my Lethal 4’10. Mistakenly, I thought the Cruzader was just a light wind board. ERROR! I was lost. I had big wipeouts due to too many tail taps. Suddenly, the Lethal felt too wide, sluggish, not streamlined enough for carving, and less responsive in end-of-move accelerations.

    But the problem is me, not the Lethal, which is a perfect pro hybrid surf/freestyle board (just look at what Malo pulls off with it!). But I found my perfect mid-length for my use: endless carve surfing, roller turns without tail taps, and angles I never thought I’d achieve.

    Bonus 1: The ability to offset the rear strap in surf position (using the SUP inserts).

    Bonus 2: In the wind-shadow areas with the cleanest waves, I love feasting on the surf while watching friends stuck with boards that don’t generate as much glide before taking off.

    Final note: I’m done with pocket boards. Now it’s Cruzader 5’6XL (90L) for hairy conditions and hollow waves, and Cruzader 6’6 (112L) for light wind sessions and carving!

    Feed back d’une personne qui n’est pas embassadeur gong sur la Cruzader rigide 5.6 80l ( la plus petite).et très très étroite.
    C’est pour compléter ma 40l par moins de 14 noeuds je fais 63 kgs.
    J’ai testé dans 8/10 noeuds en 4.5 et foil 980.
    Et bien déjà niveau stabilité en longitudinal c’est ok par contre en latéral c’est aussi technique que ma 40l donc a éviter pour les non sportifs. On a un boudin sous les pieds 🤣
    Se mettre debout ça va tant qu’on a un souffle d’air dans la wing . Sinon clairement je tiens pas debout avec un petit clapot 😅. A la moindre risée ça décole comme prévu. La magie opère ça glisse tout seul.
    En l’air j’ai été étonné l’étroitesse ne m’a pas gené du tout . La longueur non plus on a vraiment l’impression d’avoir 20l de moins sous les pieds .et c’est très rigide. Pour les manœuvres aucun soucis non plus. Mention spéciale aux straps qui sont vraiment tops.
    Bref je suis conquis par cette board que j’utiliserai plus que prévu je pense si je dois hésiter entre mes deux boards je la prendrai car je serai sur de passer une bonne session.
    Il est juste important de savoir que en version normale ne pas hésiter à prendre plus 20 ou plus 30l par rapport à son poids. Moi ça me convient à plus 15 mais je viens d’une sinker donc a relativiser.

    Trop content de ma cruzader en wing, elle décolle dans rien ! Même en vole j’adore ça conduite, le fait qu’elle est fine, je trouve que ça apporte une précision dans les jibes / changement de pied Le seul défaut, je trouve qu’il manque quelques inserts de straps à l’arrière pour les petits comme moi. Pour pas avoir un stance trop écarté, j’ai dû avancer à fond mon pied arrière et reculer à fond mon pied avant. Sauf que j’aurais bien aimé être un peu plus sur l’avant de la planche mais si j’avance mon pied avant je peux plus avancer mon pied arrière w À part ça, convaincu et adopter la planche à 100% C’est ma planche de *wing unique de 6 à 15nd au delà je fais du windsurf.     I weight 84 kg and recently purchased a Cruzader 6.6 XL for my lightwind spot at a Lake in Austria.

    First impressions:
    – even though it’s the “XL” it looks very cool and narrower then I’d expected
    – it’s not to wobbly even when standing still
    – when gaining a little momentum it gets stable immediately

    – very impressive how it accelerates and gains speed even before liftoff
    – when laying on it it’s easy to hand paddle
    – due to it’s narrow shape it fits easily in to a station wagon, even with two people on the backseats 😉

    Overall, well done GONG team and great value for money!
    Looking forward to lots of sessions at a spot that’s lovely for sailing but where’s usually to little wind to get up on foil.

    The only minor issue are the names. “XL” doesn’t sound very sporty and “Cruzader” is a military term. This cool board is super surfy and playful .. I’d say it deserves a peaceful name.

    Premières impressions avec une Cruzader 7.6 XL, le tout dernier pack X-Over XXL et Superpower 2023 6m. Position 6 du foil.
    85kg, pas d’expérience en Sup… petit niveau en Wing avec une Zuma Wood 2X 6.9 2023 avec laquelle j’arrive à voler et décoller dans un bon 15kn…mais pas de jibe encore !
    Conditions de lac (Monteynard) donc avec de petites rafales et un vent moyen de 10kn
    C’est GENIAL !!! et très abordable pour un petit niveau comme le mien ! Jamais je serai arrivé à décoller autant de fois dans ces conditions avec ma Zuma !
    La première impression c’est que c’est pas large mais l’équilibre à genou puis debout avec l’aile dans les mains est tranquille, je trouve plus stable q’une Hipe 5.3 !
    En vol l’équilibre est facile et je ne sens pas l’inertie de la planche comme avec la Hipe 6.5 et la Zuma 6.9.
    Les pieds sont plus rapprochés et le vol plus stable (paradoxal pour une si fine et longue planche hein ??) et plus “direct”, précis avec le foil. le pilotage est plus fin, moins flou … plus agréable !
    Sans voler … ça avance et ça remonte au vent comme jamais !
    Le pumping qui était un grand inconnu pour moi (très difficile à faire avec la Zuma 6.9) est “naturel” sur la Cruzader et super efficace ! Les informations données par la planche permettent de comprendre ce qu’il faut faire …ou pas faire… j’ai réussi à décoller dans rien (pour mon niveau encore une fois) grâce à la Cruz qui rebondissait sur l’eau avec le fameux effet bouchon tout en accélérant.
    Au tout début du décollage, donc à faible vitesse, le nez en l’air, il faut bien pousser sur le pied avant puis continuer de pomper/osciller et ainsi gagner de la vitesse.
    Dans les rafales … ça décolle tout seul sans rien faire avec progressivité et douceur : super facile !
    D’ailleurs c’est impressionnant car il faut se tenir prêt… tu montes sur la planche à genou, tu attrapes l’aile, tu mets le pied avant dans le strap, tu te dresses et dans la seconde qui suit c’est accélération et décollage sans rien faire ! FOU !!
    Autre chose aussi, mon pote n’en revenait pas du cap que je prenais par rapport à la zuma ! j’ai remonté le vent comme jamais ! et même doublé une autre wing… sans forcer.
    Donc pour ceux qui hésitent encore : foncez !! cette Cruzader ouvre un autre domaine de vol ! même pour les débutants dégrossis, cela permet de … VOLER … et de comprendre encore plus rapidement et facilement les actions du pumping de la planche et de la voile.
    Je suis très impatient de recevoir ma Curve 4XL-H… pour voler encore plus tôt et dans des conditions encore plus faible 🙂

    Premier vrai Downwinder en Cruzader hier sur la rivière à Perth.
    Quelques coups de rames dans les bumps et ça accélère très vite, c’est génial !
    grosse différence avec mes tentatives sur le plat où je ne parvient pas encore à passer au planning.
    Je n’ai pas volé plus de quelques mètres car je pense que mon combo FW/Stab demande plus de vitesse que le windswell offrait sur la rivière.
    Prochaine tentative en océan, ou avec un foil qui décolle tres tôt.

    Premier test de ma Cruzader XL en flat start (avec x-over xxl / mat alu en attendant la curve h 6xl et mat HM). Le nose plonge complètement quand j’essaye de pomper (je fais 105kg), mais dès que je recule la planche se cabre. Quelle position de pieds me conseillez-vous? Quelle est la position idéale du mat pour le flat start?
    Même avec la frustration de l’équilibre, cette planche est un régal, et ça vient plutôt vite même pour un débutant gros gabarit 👍🏻

    Une planche qui change la vie et permet de ne plus attendre les 15nds pour s’amuser. Elle ouvre un nouveau champ de possibilités : wing dans le lightwing, downwind, départ flat, … L’instabilité peut faire peur au vu de l’étroitesse de la board, mais on s’y fait très vite et une fois les bons repères trouver, c’est gagné 🙂

    LIGHT WIND: Stunning light wind performance, you will go flying 1-1.5 knots earlier. 6 Knots of wind is fine to pump up speed and lift off. (75KG, 6.6″ Cruzador).
STRONG WIND: no limit as the board is very neutral because it is light and seems to give no wind resistance.
WAVES: not yet in higher waves. But the neutral trim and narrowness makes me confident it is especially perfect in waves…

    Cruzader in stronger winds?
I tested my new combo Cruzader 6´3 & Sirus XL over the weekend on Lake Como. Here are my impressions:
– don’t be shy to go for small sizes (my weight is 78kg), a Sirus front wing gives stability
– After all the videos and reviews still surprising when you experience the light wind potential, big smile on the face
– Never thought about using it in stronger winds but it’s fantastic! Use 2 wing sizes smaller than you would chose for you normal board and you fly endlessly and effortless. Great upwind potential. So on the bigger lakes when a little swell builds up, you can go upwind and ride the swell coming back, with a Sirus even a little swell is enough.

    I received my Cruzader FSP Pro 6’6′ just yesterday morning and luckily it was getting windy in the afternoon. My homespun is a lake in central Bavaria and gusty and switching conditions within nothing to 30knots is typically for our spot. I was really a bit nervous because of the with of the board even though I have long term surfing experience. I’m 180cm and 72 kg and followed the very details Gong size recommendation. I need to say the board is perfect. To come up was way less difficult than thought. As soon as the board starts moving it gets stabilized and that need really low wind. I used it with my Axis 1310 (sorry no Gong foil) and the flight is amazing and super stable much more than with my normal small wing board. It seams that the low drag of the board keeps going in the air and even you are hit by heavy gusts it is like cutting through. The feeling is like long boarding smooth silent and endless just perfect. Also jibing or tacking isn’t a problem in that size. If the wind is down it is smooth to pump and if you touch the water you get it easy controlled. Especially those kind of not sticking to the water either when you start or just touch down is an experience that I never had before. In fact you need a good balance and from my point of view enough experience to start smaller wing boards. If it is choppy with my weight there is no time to rest in standing position and you need to stand up and going away. All in all it is really a complement to my board range not only (what I expect) for this lazy low wind summer days, but also for longboard style cruising in more strong winds. I am looking forward to enjoy some waves in September.

    la planche parfaite pour l’été !
Avec cette planche on peut être tout les jours dans l’eau:
-quand il y a des vagues on peut aller se régaler avec un planche qui pat sur rien.
-quand le vent est faible on peut naviguer en wing sans forcer.
-quand le vent est fort en peut se fair des downwind.
-quand il n’y a ni vent, ni vagues, on prend la sirus pour fair des flat start avec la pagaie.
C’est la planche a tout faire !!!

    Bonjour a tous,
Retour sur mes premières sessions en Cruzader.
J’ai pris cette Board en 6,2 pour le light en Wingfoil (pas de Sup).
1.Belle et légère.
2.Avec mes 65 kgs et quelques sessions,je sors en plan d’eau intérieur,en 5,5 et Sirus L,avec rafales a 7 NDS.
3.Pratiquement aucun temps d’adaptation au niveau montée,pumping, décollage et transitions.
4.jai craqué et pris une 7 pour repousser encore les limites.
5.je la sors aussi a des vents de 13/15 NDS en 4 ms,et ça marche aussi bien😳
6.jecherche encore les défauts…je vais bien en trouver😎.
Me reste a tester dans houle.
Conclusion :une board qui change complètement la donne en Wingfoil et ouvre plein de perspectives.
Merci a tous pour ces top joujoux,et toujours a des prix contenus,la concurrence est a presque 2 fois le prix💪☀️🌊

    My 6’6 Gong Cruzader Pro 112 liter arrived here in Denmark in the afternoon, so a few hours later I had to try it.
At first I had to get used to it being so narrow (48 cm and less at rear foot), foot placement are on the backbone for a wider although not wide board (63 cm) – but it did not take long.
Wow – it glides so well, that sometimes I got up foiling when so little wind I had to pump the wing all the time, to keep flying – THAT was amazing !!!
My first jibe, I fell, as not used to such a narrow board when jumping feet around ha haa, but did not take long till jibes worked 🙂
Wind was up and down so perfect to test, numbers doesnt make sense to tell, think it was 5 to 12 knots during these hours, for my 78 kg.
When wind was almost dead, one could sit across the board and sail ashore using the wing with one tip in the water, worked just fine and comfy 👍
If you want to use it as a lightwind board, dont be afraid of the volume, 112 litres felt a lot smaller in size so to speak 😉

Retour d’expérience sur la Cruzader, notamment la longueur à choisir, et le placement du mât pour une utilisation adéquate en marche de la honte.
Voilà je commence à utiliser ma Cruzader et je devient expert en marche avec mât sur l’épaule.
Voyez l’écart confortable sous le nez de ma planche qui ne racle pas le sol…c’est en choisissant la longueur de planche astucieusement que l’on y parvient. Il est également possible de régler le mât en position avant pour compenser si vous n’êtes pas grand ou avez une longue planche. Attention toutefois car cela a pour effet d’augmenter la prise au vent du tail de la planche qui ne bénéficie pas de l’écran que votre corps offre à la planche en marchant contre le vent.
A ce titre, si vous avez un peu un gros bidon et de gros cuissots (comme moi) vous pourrez opter pour la version XL sans ressentir une grande différence à la marche.
Dans mon cas, pour 1.86m 100kg , la 7’0 XL marche très bien… enfin c’est surtout moi qui marche.
J’espère que ça vous aidera à choisir!

    What more can be said about the Cruzader? It really is a miracle of a board, and I haven’t even flown it in SUP yet (soon!)…
I have the 7XL for my 97kg and today I made some tests to try to understand it more…
Very little wind, a Curve XLT and a Droid 2023 in 6.5… for this board, overpowered!
So my test was this… Try to launch with no pumping… Launch with pumping… to try to understand what changes with this pump machine…
So firstly, the board speed is so good. Make it flat in the water and it just CUTS – you can see the bow wave curling from the front of the board – sub-zero cool. Get moving, and lean onto the rear foot for a second, and release. The back pops, and she flies.
Now, let’s fly in less wind, but with pumping… here are my sensations… bear off, pumping wing and board (focus on really pumping board) and before you know it, the board speeds up so much that you already have zero wind in the wing… ok… same again but quickly start to turn back across the wind… WOW – the wing fills so much more now with the apparent wind! Something to really pump against! And the rear of the board pops you forward a LOT – this is a huge factor with this design! And then she is free, few more board pumps to gain speed and we have the wing full from the apparent wind and we are cruising… careful careful increase on the front foot pressure whilst lowering the front hand a touch and we accelerate…
Quick look over the shoulder to see if the gust continues for more and… glassy… the gust is already finished, and we understand that the launch happened after the gust was finished. No – this cannot be right – try again. Same same and same. Over and over.
Soon I will replace my Curve XLT with a v2 foil with more aspect and then, I cannot imagine the limit.
For me, I love all conditions but there is something very beautiful and very special about flying in silence. I really love this.
Whatever gear you have, if you have these days when you wish for more wind, there is NO doubt, this board is the best way forward. Magical and beautiful. What more can you want from a shape? And even just to look at it!

    Petit retour sur la cruzader 7XL essayée aujourd’hui dans des vents variables de 8 à 16 nœuds.
Moi, 75 kg en cours d’acquisition des jibes avec une wing en 5 m et curve pro XL aujourd’hui.
Avec une autre board, je me serais posé la question au niveau de la taille de la wing à prendre et là, pas besoin. À ma grande surprise, je m’aperçois que la longueur de la board donne une stabilité pour passer de à genoux à debout. Après chaque virage, je pose la planche avant de repartir dans l’autre sens quand il y a pas de gamelle. Contrairement à la mint 2023 en 5’2 où j’aurai bataillé pour repartir dans les molles, ça repart tout seul. Travers au vent, elle prend de la vitesse et c’est reparti jusqu’au prochain essai de jibe. La longueur apporte une facilité avec les touchettes.
Au final, bien moins de fatigue en évitant de pomper pour décoller et grosse banane sur le visage en fin de session.

    Short description of my first date with the new lady… the Cruzader 7XL 😎 more will follow…
Firstly, the pictures on the site do not show the XL sizes fairly. She is still SOOOO slim and beautiful! Really a super slim board – what an absolutely beautiful shape.
Almost no wind, first point to try her with my Curve XLT and Droid 6.5 to see about this light wind take-off. Barely enough to fill the wing with wind, but enough to pump the wing and get a return stroke. Yes, the board speeds up really fast, and as the apparent wind developes from the speed of the board, we can turn back into the wind more, and feel more power in the wing to pump against, and then yes, the board is free and we fly!
With the Curve XLT, from the session that I had today, I think there was maybe 1-2 minutes of flight time that I did not have to pump either the wing or the foil to stay flying. That gives you an idea of how little wind there was, but still it was possible to launch the flight. So yes, the Cruzader is really something special…
One thing I really noticed, which is unexpected, is that the board feels SOOO good when pumping the foil. So balanced, and it somehow just feels so free in the pump – perhaps it is the longer tail? Anyway, it’s a pumping machine for sure! It definitely felt like it was flattering my technique.
After a little while, legs and back nicely smoked from this excellent light wind workout (I must get myself an HA foil for this) I wanted to see how it is with the paddle. I was worried about the 7XL for my weight, but wanted the shorter size for storage reasons. Bear in mind that I do not have the stability of something like the Sirus underneath – only the Curve XLT.
So no, I did not take off, but this was not the goal today. Only to test, feel and train the muscle memory a little. And it’s actually fairly easy! The water was fairly flat, and it was not a problem to stand on the board even with my 100kg, and paddling was fun. First, just paddling like a regular SUP – beautiful glide! Then, into a pump stance to try the launch technique. It’s totally possible, even for a SUPer who is far from expert. The board tracks much straighter than I expected, and I feel like this technique might be possible for me with the Sirus. So, she has cracked me on the Sirus – because I know I can paddle her on the flat days.
In summary, there is ZERO “blah blah” in the marketing – everything is exactly true and correct. What a beautiful board – some other riders were taking a look and the universal response was how light it is, they love the SCS, and what an incredible shape. Of course, I was the last one on the water with a wing today… and that is what speaks for itself.
Oh and one last point, as others have said – this board feels like a 5′ – the nose is short and the length is behind you. It feels so small in flight and so nimble. I absolutely love riding it.

    Mon petit retour perso sur la première sortie avec la sirus 156cm avec une cruzader XL (62 kg). Testé sur un lac en dock start, wing avec très peu de vent et tentative de sup foil.
Habituellement je navigue avec un axis 1150 ou 1310. Je crois que je n’ai plus qu’à les vendre… 🙂. Mon niveau en wing est assez moyen.
En Pumping (avec une planche minimaliste, pas avec la cruzader), la sirus est bien plus efficace que les axis qui sont pourtant une reférence. Sans entrainement en ce début de saison j’ai repassé la minute sans soucis. La conduite est très proche de l’axis si bien que le tout premier départ a été directement bon en dock start. Le glide est bien meilleur on peut facilement donner 3 coups puis laisser glisser.
En wing , conditions ultra light, rafales a 5 ou 6 noeuds max, cruzader XL unit 5.5, le décollage est ultra facile. Ca décolle dans tellement rien qu’il faut continuer a pomper pour rester en l’air. C’est le signe qu’il n’y a vraiment pas beaucoup de vent. Ca promet beaucoup plus de possibilités de navigation. Ici dans les Landes on a pas souvent du vent…
En SUP… la je crois que je n’y arriverai jamais.
L’autre énorme différence par rapport a l’axis est la rigidité du mat incomparable du mat gong . On le ressent en pumping mais aussi en wing lors des manoeuvres qui deviennent beaucoup plus simple

    Super planche qui est un réel Game changer. Sans cette planche je ne pouvais pas sortir en dessous de 13/14knt.
Maintenant je navigue sans souci et en sécurité dans 7/8 noeuds.
La planche reste très maniable malgré la longueur.
C’est une parfaite planche de cruising pour les conditions légère.
L’été va être beau 🤙

    Aller c’est partis petit retour a chaud du Cruz 7.0 xl a la pagaie .
Rider 70 kg ,niveau en supfoil zero, niveau correct en surf foil et quelque notion de sup race .
Alors le spot 50 70 cm de vagues , un peu de vent 😔,du jus et un peu de backwash donc rien pour aider à la première session …
N ayant que la ypra s M je tente le coup avec aucun espoirs en tête .
Bon clairement les 15 30 premières minutes c étai vraiment dur a choper l’équilibre le bon placement de pieds etc.. et avec un si petit foil c est tout a fait normal ,bref on s accroche je commence a piger le truc et la premier mousse ça glisse tout seul ca décolle je vole un peu je repose .
Je me dit je vais essayer de choper un peu plus au large avant que ça ne déferle et la bim le p’tit mouvement pagaie bascule pumping fait effet et bim ça décolle dans rien , je n’aurais jamais imaginer cela possible en 785 .. mais c clair est net que la stabilitée est vraiment très hard avec ce foil dessous et que c était juste histoire d avoir un petit aperçu .
Ensuite un pote me prête ça fluid 1200 et la révélation la stabilitée a carrément changer et tout les bumps sont des nouveau tremplins pour s envoler juste incroyable cette board mais faut travailler dur pour l équilibre ce n’est pas une board accessible à tout le monde sauf dans le cas où la sirus ou autre gros foil rentre jeu et doit créé une stabilitée au top .
Hâte de pouvoir tester avec un foil adapté , mais conquis a 100 pourcent par cette Cruz une merveille 🚀

    Retour à chaud sur la Cruzader 7’0 XL (135L)
Matos : comme la Sirius 156 et le mât HM 72 ne sont pas encore arrivés, j’ai monté la Curve XLT avec mât alu de 75, position environ au repère 4 sur le boitier de foil. Pas de footstrap. La Cruzader est belle et légère. On voit direct que sans le foil pour stabiliser ce serait mission impossible de tenir debout dessus !
Bonhomme : 70kg, 1,81m. J’ai pas mal pratiqué le longboard SUP sur des grandes planches (ma plus petite était la Never Stick 9’6) mais je suis repassé 100% surf (et wingfoil maintenant) depuis 4 ans. J’ai donc “perdu” les muscles spécifiques à la rame debout.
Conditions : très léger vent onshore, un peu de houle, pas mal de clapot, bref pas du tout l’idéal.
Transport : j’ai utilisé le chariot que je me suis bricolé pour mon eFoil, ça marche super bien, voir photos.
But de la sortie : tenir debout, ramer à peu près droit, réveiller les muscles de l’équilibre et de la rame, découvrir le placement de pieds et l’équilibre longitudinal.
Bilan : Bon, on ne va pas se mentir, dans le clapot et la petite houle, l’équilibre est chaud à tenir. Je suis content d’avoir pris la version XL pour avoir plus de largeur et le volume me convient bien, je ne me sens pas trop haut sur l’eau. Avec le Curve XLT qui fait “seulement” 102cm d’envergure, il manque les 27cm de la Sirus 156 de chaque côté pour augmenter la stabilité. Après quelques ploufs j’ai retrouvé mes marques et j’ai commencé à ramer droit.
J’ai l’inconvénient d’être régular et gaucher, donc je ne rame pas avec mon bras dominant, mais je suis habitué. En longSup je pouvais ramer switch-feet pour utiliser le bras gauche. J’ai essayé avec la Cruzader mais pour la moment c’est totalement impossible d’être switch dessus. J’ai réussi à ramer un peu à gauche en position régular, mais l’équilibre est beaucoup plus dur à tenir. Du coup ce que j’ai fait pour équilibrer un peu mon effort c’est de remonter les vagues et le vent à genoux sur la board en pagayant à genoux à gauche, ce qui se fait très bien, et de redescendre debout en pagayant à droite.
Je n’ai pas essayé de surfer, j’avais de toute façon oublié mon leash, donc impossible, et les vagues n’étaient pas adaptées.
Idem pour le pumping à la rame, avec le chantier dans lequel j’étais et le foil inadapté, c’était inenvisageable pour une première sortie.
Le pied avant est pour le moment très avant, il mord souvent sur les inserts de footstrap, ça peut probablement être corrigé en avançant le foil.
Le pied arrière est pour le moment très à l’extérieur droit, idem, pas vraiment possible pour le moment de le mettre dans le footstrap.
J’ai volontairement limité la sortie à 45 minutes car je sais que ça va réveiller des muscles qui n’ont pas bossé depuis longtemps et je veux pouvoir marcher demain !
L’impression générale est très positive : il y a du boulot mais je n’ai pas été en échec comme par exemple pour une première session de dockstart, j’ai le sentiment que la planche est adaptée à mon gabarit, reste à faire progresser le physique et les skills du bonhomme, avec le foil qui va bien. Ca va être bien cool dans les mois qui viennent.

    I have not yet seen reviews of smallest Cruzader’s in wingfoil, so here is first. Received Cruzader 6’0 yesterday. First impressions: Wow! This thing looks narrow and fast!
I’m around 88kg’s with wintergear. I was using a 5m2 wing and Fluid XLT 1550cm2. Normally i would definately be on 6m2 in this light conditions, but i wanted to test board underpowered.
First impression when getting on a board: it’s surpisingly stable even if it is so narrow. I had no problems with balancing. It is definately NOT a beginner board. But if you can already ride a semi sinkerboards, then this thing is easy. At first i had a 6’6 in order but i’m glad that i changed it to 6’0.
When standing it is quite stable and well balanced on front-to-back. When pumping it get’s speed easily. When pumping there is this forward surge that is missing on traditional boards. I think that it’s because shape of the tail. Normally when pumping with legs on traditional boards they rise more upwards and then slow down. This feels that it goes up and forwards.
When on the foil this thing is nice! It definately feels like a lot smaller board, not a 6’0. I think it is because most of the volume is beneath you feet. The nose of the board is slender. Also rail to rail feels responsive because board is narrow. You can actually see your foil underneath which is pretty cool. Touchdowns are really smooth, there is no sticking at all, board just gently kisses the water and comes back up.
I have yet to test the board with smaller foils. Fluid XLT is absolutely biggest foil that i like to use even in ultralight winds. The board clearly works well with this size and bigger foils as the pumping is effective. But my main interest is using a small foils like Veloce MH 750cm2 in light winds due to generated apparent wind. So it is yet to be seen how well the board will get to necessary speed for those foils. But i’m pretty confident that it should work well.

A la cool…strapless, possibilité de mettre la Ypra S 1000 dans 12/15 nds max , mais à moins avec ce type de foil , impossible…pas assez de grip pour pomper…
J imagine même pas avec un foil adapté au Light wind…??
Bref, cette Cruzader est topissime, on va pas se mentir …les 15 premières minutes à m habituer à l inertie , longueur et poids….

L été ça va être fou ..en petites tailles, elle doit être folle en wing .
La longueur n est pas dérangeante finalement, en effet , la position du boîtier et du foil font que l on est ‘devant” la planche , du coup , il y a du monde derrière et la ,7’ se transforme en 6.
Les 21 de large font que tu ne touches jamais l océan , et pour avoiner en ypra LS …aucun pb…??…au contraire.
J ai vraiment apprécié voilà tout..

    Premier test de la Cruzader 7.6 XL
Fraichement reçue il fallait faire un choix. N’ayant pas encore la sirus 3XL a mettre en dessous et vu qu’il y avait du vent ma première impression de cette board sera en wing.
Clairement mon choix d’achat se portait uniquement sur un challenge perso voler en partant a la rame , mais why not l’utiliser aussi en light en wing , je n’étais pas forcément ultra convaincu a priori mais ça vallait le coup d’essayer !
Donc après une bonne heure dans 18 nds avec ma lethal ça a commencé à tomber sévère avec quelques grosses molles , plutôt dans les 13nds en rafale et des bonnes molles a moins de 10 , l’occasion parfaite de voir ce que le joujou a dans le ventre …
Prise en main rapide aucun problème de stabilité, avec ses 140L et malgré son étroitesse je tiens facilement debout dessus … La suite est assez bluffante , je commence par prendre la première rafale , ça glisse tout seul , ca accelere progressivement et hop on vole , bon pas forcément une surprise dans13 nds avec la véloce XXLH en dessous …
D’habitude les sessions ou ça commence à devenir light on fait quoi ? On attend la rafale et on évite de s’épuiser qand il n’y a rien , ben moi aujourd’hui je faisais le contraire pour tester le décollage , j’attendais les molles a moins de 10 nds pour voir ce que ça donne et c’est la que la Cruzader délivre toute sa valeur , même sans rien sentir dans l’aile is suffit de la faire osciller pour qu’elle commence a glisser et se mettre en mode “pré vol” , ensuite on met la puissance dans les bras et on est en l’air alors que les autres sont encore scotchés …

Du coup gros kiff et une board qui trouvera toute sa place dans les conditions très faiblardes.

    Petit report après l’essai du combo Cruzader 7’6 et Sirus 186, avec le précieux coaching de Patrice Guénolé ! La grande question c’est : « ça donne quoi en terme de stabilité ? » Franchement rien d’insurmontable, c’est par exemple plus facile que de tenir sur une petite Lethal Wing sur un plan d’eau agité ou sur un SUP de Race, et dès que l’on met la planche en mouvement, il n’y a plus aucun déséquilibre. L’aile du foil joue clairement le rôle de stabilisateur. Tout est ralenti, donc si la planche commence à basculer sur un côté, cette bascule va se faire tout doucement, donc c’est assez facile de rectifier en anticipant un peu.
A aucun moment je n’ai trouvé la 7’6 encombrante, la largeur réduite donne l’impression d’être sur une planche beaucoup plus courte, et très clairement, la longueur est un atout, car la première phase étant de faire glisser la planche sur l’eau. Pour venir ensuite appuyer et relâcher l’avant de la planche, pour entamer un début de pumping sur l’eau, tout en commençant à accélérer. Lorsque je tombais, c’était clairement dû à un mauvais placement de mon pied avant, le placement étant ultra sensible non pas pour la stabilité, mais pour conserver une assiette parfaitement horizontale lorsque l’on commence à pomper. Donc ne prenez pas trop court, la longueur n’est en tout cas pas ce qui vous freinera.
Question pagaie, j’ai l’habitude d’utiliser uniquement des pagaies Pro 7’’, coupée à -5cm et -10 cm par rapport à ma taille. Avec une Cruzader, il faut d’une part une pagaie puissante, donc 8’’ obligatoire, et une longueur plus importante, +10cm est un bon compromis. Une pagaie trop courte ne permet pas de se tenir bien droit et et de façon rectiligne sur la planche, et cela va jouer sur l’assiette de la planche, donc sur la stabilité et la réussite du pumping. Une pagaie puissante sur une planche qui pousse de l’eau peut être problématique, mais sur une planche comme la Cruzader qui va se mettre tout de suite à glisser, je n’ai pas eu l’impression d’avoir une pagaie trop grosse, bien au contraire. Donc mon conseil, ne choisissez pas trop court, ce n’est pas ce qui vous freinera.
Cette aile rend clairement cette pratique très accessible pour le commun des mortels, même si le vol n’était pas complètement acquis, je sais que cela se joue à rien. Donc une autre séance pour parfaire le placement et les bons mouvements, continuer à ramer fort même si on commence à voler, ne pas vouloir pomper trop vite comme on le ferait en surf foil. Et je sais que très rapidement derrière, il y aura de la réussite. Sachant qu’aujourd’hui, avec une température de 4°C, une 5/4 sur le dos, des chaussons, et 25 nds de vent… On peut donc facilement imaginer qu’avec des conditions plus sympas, ce sera aussi bien plus simple.
J’espère que ce post permettra de complètement démystifier cette pratique qui est vraiment totalement accessible. On peut imaginer commencer avec cette grande aile pour s’habituer gentiment, puis descendre au fur et à mesure de taille d’aile, notamment pour aller ensuite dans les vagues avec un foil plus petit plus facilement. Et très clairement le champs des possibles est assez dingue, des vagues imprenables en surf foil ou en sup foil, des downwind dans 10 nds à simplement surfer les bouts de clapot dans une houle de 4 secondes de période. Tout est à inventer !”

    Cette board est magique : elle vient offrir des sensations dingues dans des sessions où on ne saurait pas trop quoi faire.
-> une houle qui ne deferle pas.
-> du vent trop light de pas grand chose en wing.
-> et bien entendu les DW et le flat.
Mais ce que j’aime dans cette board c’est qu’elle bouche un des rares trous de mon quiver. Sale temps pour ma pirogue car c’est vraiment son terrain de jeu

    Sympa cette Cruzader!
Je l’ai réceptionné hier, celle en 7 pieds. Très belle formes. Bel objet.
J’ai pu la tester en wing hier et en sup ce jour.
En wing: petit temps d’adaptation pour monter dessus par le côté avec ses 19 de large il faut trouver l’équilibre. Une fois debout c’est facile. Quelle glisse pour le take off ! Et en vol bon controle malgrés le vent off capricieux dans les 20nds.
En Sup: je ne savais pas trop a quoi m’attendre. Il faut s’adapter a la largeur c’est sûr. Venant d’une 24… Mais ca vient vite et une fois debout on trouve son équilibre et les bons placements. A la rame ca va vite et ca facilite grandement le take off, un peu “sans effort”. En vol sur la vague c’est très manoeuvrant malgrés la longueur.
La planche étant étroite elle est super facile a manipuler a terre. On peut la caler sur l’epaule etc.
