Description

Program

The wings for high pace racing.

Introduction

The Ypra front wing is the ultimate wing for racing.

The glide of this front wing is a game changer in the wing foiling world. You feel yourself gliding forward without any restraint at crazy speeds. It’s breathtaking. Its very thin thickness, its really thin leading edge, and its ultra high aspect give you all the cards to set the stopwatches buzzing.

Going fast is one thing, all you need is a tiny front wing and to hold on tight. But with the Ypra you go fast for a long time and on all points of sail. The wing is healthy and ultra stable at high speed. Doing speed runs for miles almost goes without breaking a sweat. You fly at 30 knots as you would fly a more classic wing at 22/25 knots.

The very large wingspan stabilizes the wing. So you can really go for it. The ultra-thin profile will immediately hook on at very high speeds, to the point that a ventilation becomes a non-event. It’s almost unnoticeable in your sailing.

You can go for crazy angles upwind: as if you were kite foiling with a foil kite. It’s unprecedented. And it goes so fast!!! We head upwind like we would never have imagined we could with a wing foil. This is totally new territory.

And then we bear off like crazy. The chop flies by, the foil doesn’t flinch, it’s a real high-speed train. Warning: It’s really scary.

For the first time in Wing foiling, the gear is not limiting in racing. We are really calm at high speed, and it’s only up to you to go for light speed!!!

Understand each wing in detail

The small wings are suitable for very high speeds with crosswind or when bearing off, and the large ones for significant windward and leeward angles, always at high speed. The criteria of choice is therefore not only the size of the foiler, but rather the use.

The XS has a wingspan of 71 cm, 500 cm², 0,9 cm thick for a volume of 0.20L.

  • En surf foil, it is a very small wing for pros only in solid tow-in sessions. It’s super fast and the lift is very smooth to stay in control in hollow sections.
  • In wing foiling it’s very small but perfect for a lightweight rider of very good level who wants to go fast in strong winds. The top speed is amazing.
  • In kite foiling, it is a small wing for a good level rider. It’s very very fast.

The S has a wingspan of 81 cm, 650 cm², 0,9 cm thick for a volume of 0.27L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a very small wing for pros only in solid tow-in sessions. It’s super fast and the lift is very smooth to stay in control in hollow sections.

  • In kite foiling, it is a small wing for a good level rider. It goes very fast.

The M has a wingspan of 91 cm, 800 cm², 1.0 cm thick for a volume of 0.38L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a small front wing which can be suitable for pros looking for maximum speed in DW and pumping. But getting it at cruising speed is a real challenge. Not recommended.
  • In wing foiling it is the wing to combine maximum speed and optimum upwind point of sailing. Huge freedom of movement on the body of water and leading performance in racing at all speeds.
  • In kite foiling, it’s too wide. The shape is great but the wingspan will too often curl the surface with the angles of a kite foil.

The M has a wingspan of 91 cm, 800 cm2, 1.0 cm thick for a volume of 0.38L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a small front wing which can be suitable for pros looking for maximum speed in DW and pumping. But getting it at cruising speed is a real challenge. Not recommended.

  • In kite foiling, it’s too wide. The shape is great but the wingspan will too often curl the surface with the angles of a kite foil.

The L has a wingspan of 101 cm, 1000 cm2, 1.1 cm thick for a volume of 0.53L.

  • In surf foiling, it is very thin but it can be suitable for pros looking for maximum speed in DW and pumping. But getting it at cruising speed is a real challenge. Not recommended.
  • In wing foiling it is the wing to combine very high speed and optimum upwind point of sailing. Huge freedom of movement on the body of water and leading performance in racing at all speeds.
  • In kite foiling, it’s too wide. To forget.

The XL has a wingspan of 111 cm, 1200 cm2, 1.2 cm thick for a volume of 0.7L.

  • In surf foiling, it is very thin but it can be suitable for pros looking for maximum speed in DW and pumping. But getting it at cruising speed is a real challenge. Not recommended.
  • In wing foiling it is the front wing to go fast with incredible upwind and downwind speed runs. Huge freedom of movement on the body of water and leading performance in racing at all speeds.
  • In kite foiling, it’s too wide. To forget.

Shape

The shape of the Ypra is dedicated to pure speed and incredibly fast upwinds. This new front wing is made to win official races or between friends.

High aspect

The very slender outline of this wing gives it a lot of finesse by reducing the chord and the thickness of the profile. Performance is greatly improved since much less drag is generated, without losing lift at a constant surface. We even gain a little since the profile will fly faster overall, speed being the source of lift.

Profile thickness

The profile is very thin, with an almost sharp attack and a supercritical profile. It’s technical to get to cruising speed and impossible to slow down!!! Supersonic.

The camber

The “omega” shaped camber gives the wing a lot of stability which reassures and allows you to press the accelerator pedal even more.

Max width

The placement of this lift point is constant throughout the range so as to always keep the same setting for the same behavior when changing wing size.

Construction

The highest ratios in our range contain a large number of high modulus carbon layers.

This carbon is 4 to 6 times more expensive than top of the range Prepreg. It provides the essential mechanical rigidity to the proper functioning of these very thin and large foils. Many brands choose to have thicker profiles so as not to use high modulus carbon. Not making this choice allowed us to become world slalom champions with this front wing.

Its high modulus carbon construction is super rigid and responsive. It maintains a formidable dynamic despite the lower thicknesses. This technology is the very best in high pressure, high temperature molded carbon construction

TORAY M40J high modulus carbon offers incredible stiffness. It is a high-end carbon that delivers high mechanical properties while remaining resistant. A carbon popular in aeronautics as well as for high-end sports equipment. Its mechanical characteristics such as its superior tensile strength and Young’s modulus translate to exceptional performance in navigation.
The other layers of these front wings are made of 3K and 12K Prepreg carbon, with a total of over 15 fiber layers on the profile, and many more in the fitting areas.

High stress points such as fittings and connections are reinforced with Kevlar to resist tearing and fiberglass for tolerance. It is essential to place specific fibers according to the different types of stress in addition to the carbon which will produce dynamism.

On the high aspect wings, we have added a central stringer made of full prepreg carbon, which runs from one tip to the other. This acts as a solid beam to boost rigidity, namely by the extreme dynamic connection it provides between the intrado and the extrado.

Molded at high pressure and high temperature on a foam core, our wings are almost indestructible.

It is the perfect balance between low weight and “infinite” durability/repairability.

Wing tips are a potential source of danger. We take care not to produce an intrinsically dangerous design, within the limits of efficient hydrodynamics. We invite you to be extremely careful though because these parts remain sharp and dangerous by nature. Stay away, wear the proper protections, and never sharpen them. Systematically repair the slightest hitch in the outline because it represents a danger for you and others if it were to cut your leash for example. In all situations, the greatest caution is required. If in doubt, abstain (waves, strong wind, etc.). The foil is by nature a dangerous object in the same way as a knife or a chainsaw for example. Never sail alone and without any protection. Do not approach others. And be careful even on land when handling your foil.

Your benefits are clear:

  • An efficient shape created by one of the leaders in the world of foiling.
  • A design at the cutting edge of R&D and ahead of its time.
  • A construction proven on thousands of foils.
  • The incomparable stiffness of high modulus carbon!
  • Full Option finishing at a great price.
  • A light and solid foil with one of the best technos on the market!!!
  • An incredible price that can only be explained by our direct relationship with you.
  • Simple maintenance and easy repairs.

This foil is completely dismountable to adapt to all sports at a lower cost and gives you the possibility of replacing a damaged part. A complete catalog of spare parts is available, to allow you to make it compatible with multiple supports (surf / SUP / kite / wing), and to explore the entire range of use of the foil in each sport and at all levels.

Our R&D as well as our Quality Control guarantees you products of the highest quality. Firstly because our engineers based in South Brittany, France, are the first users. Their passion for our sports coupled with their qualifications have enabled us to create a unique research center in the world.

Our position as world leader in foiling is no coincidence. Our 3D simulations, our countless technical and technological prototyping, our state-of-the-art tools, our 100% GONG factory, our tests with the Pro Team which is among the most efficient, the thousands of feedback from our customers and our Ambassadors , and a ultra involved shaper designer: these are the key elements among many others that allow us to manufacture exceptional foils.

Several years ago, we were at the origin of the creation of the first foil factory in Asia, which today produces the “prestige” brands. 18 months of intense work and dozens of tools developed. Three years ago, we launched a 100% GONG factory which allows us to produce more parts and keep our developments and technologies secret, to offer you the best of foils.

We want to offer low prices without ever cutting corners on quality, and refined products without ever diminishing performance in each program: we know what we are doing from A to Z. We do not sell foils designed by a freelancer, we do not sell marketing concepts. We do thorough, serious and innovative work to create efficient and solid foils at an unbeatable price.

Quiver partners ?

The YPRA front wing is ideal with technical boards with noble constructions such as the FSP PRO boards.

Positioning of the foil ?

For the GONG foils, place the top plate at the rear third of the US rails for surf, SUP and kite. Place it in the middle of the US rails when using it with a wing foil.

The more you move it forward, the more it makes the board pitch up. The further you move it backwards, the more the nose of the board dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend to forget to use the back foot, especially when we have a kite foil background. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

Shipping

Availability:

The dates of availability of all our products are written on each product page, in the size and colour of the product concerned.

These dates are valid at the moment you consult the site and/or place an order. It is possible that this product may be ordered a few seconds after your consultation. It then becomes unavailable. If you have placed an order, this change does not concern you: the product you order is still available on the date indicated at the time of your order.

We sell several thousand products per week. The stocks are therefore very evolutionary. But our management always shows you the real availability live.

If it’s available online: it’s available ?

Pre-order:

Some articles are proposed in pre-order during their routing to our premises. You can buy this article which will arrive at our place in a few weeks. This method avoids the fair to grab upon receipt of the lot and the disappointed ones who would not order within the hour.

Upon receipt, we will ship it to you as a regular order.

The times indicated on the pre-orders are 95% reliable. First of all, because we only pre-sell finished products that are arriving to us after Customs, and therefore shipped right after. And also, because we add decent margins with concern to the dates announced by the shipping companies or railways.

However, a Worker Strike, a breakdown, an overbooking, can unfortunately happen. In the case of a delay, you will be notified by email (check your spam). It is generally less than a week and totally independent of our good will.

As soon as we receive the container in La Baule, we ship your order within three working days. Then the carrier takes over: delivery time and tracking numbers are under their responsibility.

It is possible that the date displayed on the online for the pre-order of the item you have ordered and paid for may change for two reasons:

  1. All quantities of the batch are sold (most common reason). In this case, orders placed for the first container will be delivered as scheduled.
  2. The container is late and we have to shift the date by a few days. (Strikes, breakdowns, overbooking, can unfortunately happen). You will be notified by email.

We never change the delivery dates of a container without notifying customers.

Delays:

The dates that we announce are shipping deadlines, which GONG has in stock and available here physically.

We usually give a shipping time within 3 days, but in most cases, we ship within 24/48 hours. Normally morning orders leave in the afternoon for example.

Then the transport service takes over. The variables are then important between the customer being delivered to France (very fast) or Bulgaria (a good week) or to a forwarding agent or to Asia or the USA… You understand that each location has its own type of delay.

We work with serious and well-known carriers. They do their utmost to make you happy even if a snafu can happen. In any case, we are there to make things easier and to arrange our customers.

Shipping Fees:

Contrary to others, we do not hide shipping costs in the price of our products. At GONG everyone knows exactly what he pays. The transport is charged at its strictest value, and the person who comes to pick up his products does not pay hidden transport fees.

Shipping costs are calculated according to the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address. To this is added a labour time of order preparation.

The invoicing of the shipping costs is identical in continental France and in the bordering European countries. A surcharge is automatically invoiced for deliveries to the most distant European countries and all European islands.

For a shipment in French overseas departments and territories or outside Europe, our logistics department will contact you before the payment stage to give you an estimate of the shipping costs. You will be able to accept this estimate and pay your order, or refuse it and cancel your order.

Any questions:

We answer you within 24 hours by email. But 95% of your questions are answered on the site. Try to use our contact form which will guide you to all these answers.

Don’t forget to read the Forum, where thousands of users exchange information and experiences.

In any case, don’t panic. If you don’t get an answer during the weekend, it’s normal: the team is resting ?

We are passionate and professional in our job. Our only goal is to make you happy, as much as possible ?

Eco-responsible packaging:

Preserving the environment is a top priority. That’s why we are doing everything possible to reduce our environmental footprint.

The first thing is to sell quality products that will last, be repairable and will please you for a long time.

The second thing is to sell for less. Most of the pollution coming from a Board is in its use (the km driven to use it) and in the countless environmental damages you have to do to pay for it. Each euro spent is a sum of damage related to your life quite simply: eating, working hard etc… By reducing the price of our products, we significantly reduce your ecological footprint on this item.

For our shipments we use:

  • Flexi-Hex: ecological packaging of very high resistance.
  • Paper Craft Scotch Tape.
  • Final packaging made of high-end cardboard.

All this for:

  • Reusable and recyclable packaging.
  • An almost total reduction of single-use plastic.
  • Maximum protection and impact resistance thanks to the innovative design of Flexi-Hex honeycomb (35mm thick).

Tracking of your parcels :

The tracking of deliveries is directly ensured by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your parcels. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose the delivery methods and to follow the route of your package.

If you ask us for this tracking, we will have to do as you do: we will go see on the carrier’s app because they are the ones who manage and are responsible for this job.

Delivery:

We collaborate with the best transport providers to deliver you everywhere in Europe and in the world in very short delays.

We have chosen them for their quality of service and their respect of deadlines. 80% of your orders reach their destination in less than 48 hours of processing in metropolitan and continental France.

For Europe, the delays vary from 3 to 6 days depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delays can be up to 15 days.

Please note that the transport time is added to the preparation/shipping time. Two companies work on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one controls its activity and commits itself to optimize its delays so that you are delivered as soon as possible, in good condition and at a reasonable price.

Reception of your front wing:

Upon delivery, simply open and inspect the condition of your Board in the presence of the carrier. A complete email explaining the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

In spite of our requirements and all the care we take in packaging and protecting your Board, transportation hazards may occur. Even if it concerns less than 2% of everything we ship around the world, a Board can suffer a more or less important transportation shock.

But in any case, don’t worry, just refuse it, and a new Board will be shipped back to you.

Returns:

You can choose to return your products if:

  • You are not satisfied (14 days right of retraction).
  • You want to change an item.
  • You have refused your package.

For each situation, contact us by our contact form to help you.

Quelle belle découverte cette Ypra XL !!

  2. Pascal Dumez

    Conclusion

    Session YPRA L 1000cm2
    30/35 nds 3.5 neutra 2023…très toilé,( trop)
Très jolis bumps , treeeeeeeeees long, taille hanche .

    Comparison between Fluid M H 1000cm2, Veloce M H 750cm2, Ypra M H 800cm2.
Rider: 85kg Level: 2 years. Jibes, tacks, carving 360, jumping fs360
Before mostly used foils: Fluid Ls 1100cm2, Veloce L 1300cm2
Spot: usually inland lakes with gusty winds.
    Board 95L, Wing 5m2. Stab Fluid H 42
Ypra M: Takeoff takes couple more pumps but is still easy. Around the same as FLuid MT 950cm2. Here we start to see difference with glide! Comfortable maximum speed is around the same or lower than with Fluid MH, i think this is because smaller and more nervous foil. Fluid MH is easier to keep stable at higher speeds. Better rider could push it more. It’s pretty stable going forward. For my riding style i would like it to turn better. But this is racing foil so it does what it was designed to do.

Ypra 800 arrived and tested it yesterday. Wind 7/11 ms, my weight 73kg and second summer with wing. Mast carbon 100 and new pro fuse. My previous most used setup to compare with is fluid mt 950cm2 with old V2 fuse and 40cm fluid pro stab. Takeoff is easy – something like fluid mt (I have well gliding board for ha foils). Really easy to ride – no surprises. Glides better than old fluid. Basic jibe is really easy to do because of long glide. Tack to switch jibe probably easier with Ypra than fluid mt because of extended glide. My max speed in lake conditions with fluid mt was 40,8 kmh. Max speed with Ypra 800 and new veloce 40 stab was only 38 kmh. Stab was too small for me to keep constant hight in a bit gusty wind. I changed to new fluid 42 stab and got max 41.8 kmh (pretty flat lake 5.5 wing). In these conditions the front wing felt quite big and probably 600-700cm2 would be ideal for my weight. Ypra goes upwind great – so does fluid mt – ypra is somewhat faster. Slowest / stall speed is similar to fluid mt – no problems with jibes and and no unexpected drops. Ypra does not carve so smoothly as fluid mt but it is doable and I can not see any reason why not to use in waves. Whistles a lot! Bottomline: surprisingly easy to takeoff and ride, great glide and upwind properties. Don’t expect big improvements to max speed if you already use medium size front wing. Size is good for lighter wind race or for heavier person? I presume smaller / faster sizes or models will be published in the near future. Maybe faster race oriented mast also.

Warning

The practice of the foil carries risks of major accidents. A bad mastery of the foil can cause cuts, serious wounds, even death, for you and/or others.

The foil must be practiced taking all the precautions when used in kite because they are increased in comparison to those related to the foil surf. Remember that the foil is long, sharp, and can reach high speeds. To be hit by a foil, or to strike a third party can have dramatic consequences.

Foil always far from others, in safe and unobstructed water.

The foil is mainly used in the light wind. This one can fall and force you to go swimming. Therefore, do not overestimate your strengths: never go further than what you can swim under present and announced conditions.

Wear a helmet and protective jacket to ensure your buoyancy. Always wear a full neoprene wetsuit.

When handling the foil, be careful not to cut yourself on the trailing edges.
