The Alley keeps a bit of length to favor paddling speed and score a lot of waves. On the wave the shape produces speed and maneuverability for a smooth surf. The main focus of development is reducing the width in order to benefit from maximum natural speed and a shortboard feeling.
In terms of handling, the round tail gives it more freedom in the curves for maximum fluidity and to seek verticality even in hollow sections. So we can radicalize the turns and wrap long curves. The board isn’t on a single line and much more manoeuvrable. Not insignificant in competition, but also in freesurf! To qualify it well, we can say that it is also the most efficient backside board, the most complex point in SUP.
