For more than two years now, we have exclusively used Flexi-Hex to wrap our rigid boards. Prior to this transition, consuming plastic in the form of bubble wrap, styrofoam blocks and scotch tape was a waste that could no longer be overlooked. We had to find a solution in line with our values. This was a significant challenge for GONG, whose model is direct sales of high quality products at competitive prices. The room for maneuver seemed slim.
We had to trust a new partner and rethink our process. Thanks to the motivation of our teams, choosing Flexi-Hex quickly paid off. The additional cost for GONG of these new packaging could be absorbed without influencing the prices of our boards. In particular thanks to the packaging time which could be shortened. Better still, transport damage has been reduced significantly. We have gone from 15% of transport damage 10 years ago to only 2% today.
Two and a half years later, we are happy to have taken this direction because with the sales volumes we achieve today, the use of bubble wrap would have completely exploded. Cherry on the cake, Flexi-Hex packaging is reusable. You can keep them to resell your used board, to protect your board while traveling. The strengths of this product are such that we offer it for sale so that you can also enjoy it on your trips. There is nothing worse than starting your vacation with a damaged board.
The environmental challenges are daunting, this is particularly true in our industry. There is still work to be done and we are working on it. The very good results of Flexi-Hex redouble our motivation to face it. Every step towards a greener model is a battle won and we are proud of the latest results.
