HOW TO : self-rescue !!!

It’s a bit like in the  swimming pool but not completely ?

You are in purgatory, your Kite does not fly any more: you’ll have to swim / row to the beach. No luck and no choice.

First we secure our Kite :

We roll the lines cleanly, keeping the possibility to unroll them correctly if the wind comes back. Be careful with your fingers: risk of cutting them is real. Neutralize your Kite. For example, by winding a few meters of safety line before the other three lines. The differential will make the re-launch impossible.

If the Kite is damaged, it is rolled or folded.

If the Kite is intact, (wind loss) it is put on its back and we connect the safety leash of the back of the harness to the pump loop on the leading edge, and we attach it to the bar.

Then we sit on the Board.

Your weight should be around in the middle of the board, and in accordance to the distribution of its volume. A good indicator is that the nose must be grazing out the water when you paddle. Paddling with the nose reared up is a mistake even if you’re leaving in a late take off.

Tighten your legs when paddling. Your board is guided with your thighs and knees during take-off. You must have your weight forward in order to get down the slope easier, and it is the management of the board under the thighs that will help you charge. To push harder : arch your back.

Then you have to paddle one arm after another. Never both at the same time, or rarely, like on big traditional longboards for style.
