GEAR: COUINE MARIE RACE OR RACE FLAT WATER?

In the Couine Marie range, two models are dedicated to the most athletic or the most adventurous SUPers. The Couine Marie Race and the Couine Marie Race Flat Water are the fast and full option boards for races, sporty outings, downwinds or long distances. But how do you choose between the Race and the Flat Water Race?

These two models have the same purpose: high performance. Go fast with a perfect glide that limits effort. They mainly differ by the playing field in which they will perform the best. The Couine Marie Race Flat Water is the fastest on calm water thanks to a thin tail that reduces drag. On the other hand, it will be quite technical on a body of water agitated by the wind or with whitewater. Unless you’re an expert, the performances will then be to the advantage of the Couine Marie Race on which the paddling will be done with more comfort.

Couine Marie Race Flat Water

For practice on a body of water with little or no exposure to the wind or on a calm river, the Couine Marie Race Flat Water is the SUP that will provide the most performance, and therefore pleasure. It will go faster, further and will put you ahead in the races ;).

It is more technical than the Couine Marie Race in the turns, but the calmer surface of the water will greatly compensate for this difficulty. Be careful though, this is a racing board. It is therefore not suitable for a beginner. You need a minimum of SUP experience, whether it’s the Couine Marie Race or the Flat Water Race.

Couine Marie Race

When the water is rough, the Couine Marie Race allows you to maintain good performances without having an expert level thanks to better stability. It is also ideal for those who want to develop their paddling technique on a board that is more accessible than the Couine Marie Race Flat Water. It is mainly in the turns that it will be easier, especially when passing the buoys during a race.

Beyond racing, its square tail also allows for a better drive in the surf of the swell during downwinds.

You can also play with the sizes, 12’6 or 14’0. The length increases the inertia and therefore the glide. We also offer a Couine Marie Race 18’0 specially for long distance races. Inertia is essential to keep up physically on long runs.

Finally, because a Race board is dedicated to performance, its techno must perfectly restitute all your efforts. The rigidity of our welded double-layer Woven Dropstitch inflatable techno is exemplary. We find the sensations of a rigid board without the hassle of storage.
