A little feedback of the Veloce M-H, 750cm², combined with a Fluid H 38 Stab, by Hugo, 80kg and sailing on a 55L board.
“After a big month on this foil, I can finally give a decent feedback on this little gem, underrated and unfairly demonized.
First, take off! In 5m, with 17-18 knots, it takes off without difficulty!
We must forget everything we know about “traditional” foils. All you have to do is let the board glide on the water, bearing off, almost downwind, 3/4 pumping strokes in Windsurf-style, a kick on the front and it takes off!
To say that you have to do a lot of cardio to launch it… well, I’m sorry, but it’s an urban legend. Unless you’re aiming for more “light” conditions (It took me 2 sessions to understand that giving everything like a madman led to nothing, except to tire the arms).
It will take off at 15 knots. But you should switch to something else if you fear the takeoff after each fall.
Once in the air, it goes fast, very fast.
It outruns everyone. And not just anybody… The acceleration is lightning fast and it doesn’t flinch a tiny bit (big plus vs the Fluid MH which moves too much in a straight line in my eyes).
Concretely, the only limit is the guy on the board.
I was able to climb to 24 knots, without forcing. It had a lot left in the tank, but I haven’t yet had enough flat conditions to totally go for it.
In the turns : it turns very short if you wish, you are very serene on it!
Big curves are ridiculously easy and comfortable!
We have a bit less angle than on a Fluid MH, but you just have to press more “frankly” and you have the same radius with more speed! In other words, it does not have the ease of the Fluid MH, but we have the same result with a bit more commitment!
And when I talk about commitment, I’m not Malo… Just don’t let yourself be lulled by the gear.?
However, precision is essential! It reacts to the slightest touch!
Finally, it will tolerate low speeds a little less than a Fluid MH, but I have never found myself in the water because of that at the end of the maneuver! The wing goes naturally fast. If the stall is close, we feel it coming, we have plenty of time to recover!
On the freefly side, once launched, it goes a long way.
We catch the slightest ripple and off you go! It glides for a looooong time!
Jump level, sorry, I’m just getting started with this wing! I couldn’t compare!
In short, this front wing is anything but inaccessible despite what I have read and what people have told me! It’s just not made to turn around the bush! It goes fast, all the time. If you like to navigate in a committed way, it’s pure joy!?
A big thank you to Team GONG for this little gem!!”
