Feedback from Pat who made the transition from the Zuma of his debut in wing foiling to the Mint FSP Pro 5’0 following advice from the forum. Here’s how it went.
“Small feedback following the advice I got on the forum. So I chose a Mint 5’0 and after one session I am delighted with it. No particular difficulties even after a few pearlings before I got my bearings. A feeling that’s to be confirmed in choppy conditions because today I was sailing in a sheltered bay with a particularly gusty wind.
In flight it’s a treat compared to my Zuma 6’3 which I found too “cumbersome”. I kept a board with 105L because I know I don’t have a great balance when the wind dies.
Then I replaced my Curve XL with a Fluid XL. I had a blast with it, its speed is much higher. It’s also more reactive, you have to be very focused at first but I quickly got used to it. Then I nailed all my jibes, I really liked it.
In summary, this Mint+Fluid combo really corresponds to the evolution I was looking for.
I don’t have the background for more details and as I was in survival mode with 4m in gusts at more than 30/35kts, my impressions won’t be any more precise. Except that I’m feeling very positive about it.”
