FEEDBACK : 2020 GONG KITE FREEWAVE !!!
Almost 5 stars for the 9m 2020 Freewave! Tested under special conditions all which happened in the same afternoon : On-shore wind, side, then On from 15 to more than 30 knots gusting. Waves from 1 to 2 m. surfboard 5’11. Easy adjustment of the Kite and I uses the setting it comes with, and the larks’ heads to be placed directly on the red balls at the end of the line. Quick and easy! On the Bar the Kite is lightweight, but it generates a good amount of power to glide and accelerate in the face of closing waves. There is enough power to know where his Kite is placed when flying, and its drift when surfing is excellent. For Rollers, no problem, it rotates on the spot, in a very regular movement. The tips remain firmly in place, without deforming unlike some other Kites. At the bottom, it keeps a good power in the curve to be able to go up efficiently towards the lip and hit the wave radically. In the gusts, we have an important trim with the Gong Bar, and we can handle up to 30 knots without flinching; the Kite remains controllable and reassuring in these conditions. Other kiters with smaller Kites had to return to the shore as I continued to ride and surf quietly…. The Freewave is rigid with its reinforced SPI, and accelerates hard. We reach a good speed and a very good upwind thanks to its stability and its power base. I repeat that this efficient power base does not generate a lot of Bar traction, not to unnecessarily tire out the rider. For jumps, she lofts high, easily, always without jerking your arms. It’s a fast, stable Kite, so in TT it should send heavy! In short, this Freewave 2020 is easy, effective and very reassuring. It is built with super-reinforcements without making it cumbersome to handle! A wing to do everything easily, which you can also adapt to your style thanks to these numerous settings. Thanks again to GONG for the quality of this product!” Find this kite on the online shop. Kiteboarder : Jean-Pierre and his GONG Kite Freewave 2020.
