Introducing the Light Wind Program:

In our light wing category, you’ll find wings to fly in light or irregular wind conditions!

Our wing range includes 5 models that we’ve classified by program: allround, surf-freestyle, freerace and lightwind. Do you want to cover your low end, or are you riding on spots with little or no exposure to wind ? Then the lightwind category is made for you.

What is a lightwind wing ?

A lightwind wing is a wing that allows you to make the most of the slightest breeze, without having to pump too hard on your legs and arms. In our range, the SuperPower Boom and Pulse Boom cover this program, each with its own specific features:

  • The SuperPower Boom, available only in size 6, 7.5 et 9m2 is the wing to comfortably fly full tilt in light conditions or irregular winds, and a must on inland waters with wind shadows. It allows you to easily maintain flight in lighter winds without having to pump, and to go upwind effortlessly. Its key strengths are its torque, which is transmitted effortlessly to the foil, and its stability, thanks in particular to the GONG boom, which makes it very comfortable to ride and very precise whatever the point of sail. Its Low Drag System tips limit drag to improve your top speed. The Superpower is the ultimate reference for lightning fast take off and flap-free flights.
  • The Pulse Boom, available in 4, 5, 6 et 7m2 sizes, is the wing that allows you to sail at your best, whatever your point of sail. Its shape has been designed as a real racing wing, with a deep draft and dynamic twisting of the tips, making it very comfortable at high speeds and in gusty winds. The complete stability of its profile means you can push hard and gain knot after knot in top speed. The profile’s shape and morph have been designed to allow the wing to breathe. The gain when going upwind is incredible. Bearing off, the profile accepts a lot of speed wind and continues to pull forward.

Who is it for?

A lightwind wing is designed for those who want to lower their low end or to ensure take-offs without having to exert too much physical effort. The power base of the SuperPower Boom achieves exactly this. All you have to do is to sheet in and accelerate to take off. Having a board that’s fast on the water, such as a Cruzader Point, Cruzader Diamond or HIPE Cruzader, is a solid additional advantage. For even more versatility and sailing in higher wind ranges, the Pulse Boom is the reference for making the most of the conditions. It will be a little more technical during take off than a SuperPower Boom, but offers more high range, heading and speed thanks to a slimmer profile.

What are the qualities of a lightwind wing?

Lightness is a guarantee of efficiency and comfort to exploit the lightest conditions. It is therefore a priority on our wings, especially those designed for these conditions. And it’s also with this objective of saving weight in mind that they are supplied with the GONG boom, which is 200g lighter than basic rigid handles.

The boom not only provides more freedom and precise handling, it also stiffens the wing and makes it possible to develop a central strut with a reduced ‘wasp-waist’ diameter to limit drag and gain in speed.

Optimizing the airflow is another important focus for these wings. Their profile is designed to glide through the air as smoothly as possible. The drag that pulls you back is the enemy. So thanks to an optimized air flow, these wings pull you forward for continuous acceleration.

With this type of wing, you have invaluable power to take off in light wind with the SuperPower, for example, and very present at high speed with the Pulse. We always have something in reserve with these wings. It’s up to you to make the difference at the wheel.

The draft of this type of wing is perfectly set, with an assembly of exemplary rigidity and dynamic tip twisting to manage gusts. Whether it’s on take off thanks to its power base, on high-speed tacks with its very stable profile or in gusts with its very forgiving tips. These wings are extremely comfortable to ride, and you can even engage the autopilot.

A well-designed lightwind wing stands out for:

  • its lightness
  • its acceleration
  • its power
  • its riding comfort

With or without a wing harness?

The use of a harness is recommended on the Superpower Boom and Pulse Boom to maintain the same level of sailing comfort over long sessions, especially if you like to sail overpowered to be sure of taking off in fickle winds.

Our lightwind wings are all equipped with a boom so it is easy to adjust your harness lines to find your sweet spot.
